Default battery trouble

I left my car stored for two months and forgot to disconnect the cables.
The battery is now dead.
We tried to charge it but it wont charge at all.
Do I need a new battery or does it have something to do with the charging system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Lee

I had the same problem. My battery went dead (left the interior light on) and it wouldn't take a slow charge. Fluid levels in the cells were right up so I took it to have it tested. It was put on a quick charger for just a few minutes and the machine kicked off and the tech told me the battery wasn't any good, won't take a charge, so I took it home. I thought I'd try the slow charge again cause I read somewhere that if a battery discharges slowly then it needs to be charged slowly. Hooked up the slow charger and hey, shot right up to 4 amps. Eighteen hours later the battery is fully charged and appears to be holding the charge. I've put the slow charger back on it few times mores after it has been sitting for a few days usually starts off at 1 or 2 amps and within a few minutes the meter says it's fully charged. So far so good. It's coming up for 4 years old so I'll be switching it out for a new one in the not too distant future.

What year is your car? It could be ready for a new battery. This thread might help:
