Default Lawn Care

Ok so I purchased a brand new house last Sept and grass was just sodded and went dormant for fall/winter. Now that spring has come I thought I would spread some fertilizer down prior to becoming active again(advise from my Sub-division grounds guy). I have Bermuda grass.....I used Pennington fertilizer and now have weeds everywhere. 80% of yard is green and golf material but the other half is patched with weeds. I mow it down but seems to come back worst!!??! Anyone have any recommendations or advice please...

Wrong forum . Go to your neighborhood garden center and buy Weed-B-Gone concentrate. Buy yourself a hose attachment sprayer, and follow the directions. You should be able to spray your lawn and weeds, and kill the weeds only, but won't hurt your lawn.

I hope this helps.

Also, mow often. At least once a week or more if possible. That chokes out the weeds and gives the bermuda a chance to take over.

Also, put a CAI on your mower to make it go faster.

I have Bermuda too. I've had great success with Weed-B-Gone and a hose end sprayer for weed control. Just follow the directions.

Next spring (Feb), use Scott's fertilizer (for Southern Lawns-MAKE SURE Bermuda is OK. There are 2 different types) with Halts. This prevents germination of other grasses and fertilizes at the same time.

I would use a product called Preen, it is a fertilizer with a weed killer in it, should do the trick, but have no experience with bermuda...

Hope this helps bud.

The Scotts products with Halts seem to work ok but I'm starting to get weeds, last application was at the beginning of May. I don't know if its all the rain we've been getting or what. I will be using Weed B Gone in the Lawn spray (hook up tp garden hose), that seems to pick up where the Scotts leaves off.
Good luck with your lawn!

Spread out some weed and feed during the hot months. Only kills out broad leaf. Don't use to much!Squirrel Crusher

I like Bayer, it even kills crabgrass. Only problem is, you can't use it in a hose sprayer but must use it in a bug sprayer.

Funny video Gary.

I'll stick to my internal combustion engine Honda lawn mower.

Good advice. But ever since Bayer started advertising their chemical weed control, I could never swallow a Bayer aspirin without wondering which Bayer plant it came from.

Building your fence out of radiators is an interesting idea if you can make it so they cool off the house better but I don't know what it would do for your lawn much less home owner association status
