Default God works in mysterious ways...

Oh dear...how sad.

Ordnance Rule #1:

Don't wiggle the thing too much. The attached video of thermal footage was recorded from an AC-130 gunship from a mile or more away. No rounds were fired by the aircraft. The problem solved itself with no American intervention. Some jihadists were trying to bury an IED made from a 155 mm artillery shell. Evidently they lost the instruction manual..

Talking Re: God works in mysterious ways...

To disarm an IED you simply blow it in place, while your not watching (standing over
) it. Woody

I have the longer version of this incidient......A convoy was in the area and they were waiting for eod to show up and the iraqis said they would go up there and take the ied out of the road, Usually once you rip the wires out of it then the ied wont go off but I think the 155 round was old and unstable and it just went off.....I have videos of our (american) eod teams rippin shells out with a chain attached to a humwvv without the shells going off, its just the nature of the game.......The reason we dont want to blow the ied up is so we know how they are making the devices and we can come up with ways of defeating the devices......because you only see MAYBE 10 percent of the ied's......I would try to put the video up on youtube and then put a link on here but it will get flagged again.....basically the helocopter pilot trys to get a medivack out there to help them but theres not much left to be done except to clean up the mess

I'm afraid you are correct. At the end of the video, one guy says they were volunteers that they "pushed forward"

I believe that video is a few years old. Hopefully, they learned a better technique for disarming IED's.
