THIS may answer the question...!
Saw on bloomberg tv, that there are issues with turning off the TOYOTA and other cars with the PUSH BUTTON ignition.
While back there was a story about a cop that got killed with his family in a lexus that he had 'borrowed'. The engine went wild and he hit an suv at 100 or so mph.
Turns out that there are others that have had a problem with the wild motor in other cars and that people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO STOP THE CAR WHILE ITS DRIVING ON THE ROAD>
Seems that you have to push the start button AND HOLD IT IN FOR 3 SECONDS to turn off the motor. This will get more press and probably some sort of standardization to make it universal in its operation.
