Credit card
When we were comming back from the Gateway Raceway at CAA I tried to get gas at the Mobil don the street from Harrah's. Card rejected -- how embarrassing! I tell the clerk that I pay my card off every month ya right she thinks! When I got home I went to the credit union and found out that someone(s) in Manila, Phillipines was going to Massage parlors, Clubs, and Pizza Hut. They got my card for 4600 bucks in 4 days. It is all supposed to be removed though and the credit union said the chance of catching these scum is none. Best of all Visa charged me 46 bucks for international transactions. So now I get a new number and all that. They said that my number was gotten from some establishment in my home town possibly by computer hacking. The credit union has to eat the first 35000 of an event like this they said. They said the reason the fraud unit didn't catch it sooner is because I don't use it every day. If I would have used it the day before (in Ind.) of their first purchase in Manila it would have shut the card down sooner. We all pay in the end. Be careful and watch your card.

A few years ago mine was rejected when we tried to check into our hotel. In Mexico! A quick phone call (and a whole slew of questions) and it was re-instated. No harm no foul.
Stange there was no questions a on a rarely used card that was suddenly very active and for larger amounts.
I found two credit cards that I really like (referring to credit card services only)
Discover: Has a great feature where you log on to their site (or you can download a small program) that issues a one time use credit card number. One a charge is made it is done. Great for online purchases!
Bank of America: You can set up the account to email or text anytime the card is used. It sends the message instantly (an I mean instantly - I get the message before the i get the receipt from where I made a purchase)
Both are great tools in these high fraud times.

The sad thing is that every time you hand your card to a waitress, bar tender, or any other
human being. They can grab your card number, and its off to the races.
And you are right on the money. The credit card company is responsible for X number dollars.
And it will be passed back to us in some fee or something. We Pay.
