Another Bad Day...
Well, as many of you know, My mother suffered a stroke on July 5th, so I have been busy with all that goes alone with that little set back. Yesterday, the place where my son shares a house with 2 of his friends burned to the ground, taking the old grand am with it. Mom is doing fine with her rehab, Codey and his friends escaped without injury, but lost everything. Two of the 3 cars burned along with the house. Codey, graduated as an art major, so he was doing commission painting, and photography to get him by while job seeking. His 'puters and all his camera equipment are gone as well. The one friend who is the homeowner, told them when they moved in, all was insured. Had I known, I would have insisted he get renter's insurance, but we all failed on that account. I am only telling you this, because time is getting away from me, taking care of a lot things right now, so if I fail to post, or am not around as much, you that are my closest friends know why. All this will pass, and all will be fine again soon, this I am sure of. I will be in Woodward in August, but will pass on everything else for the rest of the year. I will check in from time to time, as the hospital has wifi...woohoo...but a lot of work needs to be done. The old blue coupe is now on hold for awhile, but we will get there...talk to you all soon....
I'm having a bad year, but nothing like what YOU are experiencing.
My heart goes out to you for your mom, and my heart goes out to your mom.
The kid will be fine, computers and cameras and stuff can be replaced - that is just a set-back, and can be overcome. But mom's situation is something different. Our health is, well, of utmost importance.

so sorry to hear of all that Bill. man that is a lot to deal with at one time! Like someone else said, these things are like roller coasters in that at the lows there starts a climb back up so don't worry too much about the low times, but don't get smug and complacent when you're at the top! Hang in there and we'll all be here for you whenever you get the chanceto check in! Mark
Boy, when it rains it pours, huh? Sorry to hear about so many things being thrown at you at once, but your attitude about it all speaks volumes. Here's hoping things just keep improving from here on out.
Doc, I have never met you but enjoy your posts & your attitude on most things. You have provided me with information on my car through your posts that has been very helpful. Having said that I wish you & your family better times ahead. Hope to meet you someday.
Good Luck

I can't imagine loosing my home to a fire. But all-in-all, it's just stuff. Glad to know no one was hurt!
All the best to your mom. We'll be here for ya Doc.

Doc,
Keep on putting one foot ahead of the other. Your son took a big hit with all of his work destroyed, most of his portfolio was on the computer I'd think, not to mention the originals.
Your Mom's an original, glad she is still around to kick your butt!

To you....Keep your chin up and all will be OK.
To your Mom....Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
To your Son...Glad that he and his friends are OK.

Doc,
First of all glad to hear mom is doing better
As for your son and his loss...
Can't even imagine the feeling that one must have when everything is gone in an instant.
Fortunately he has you (an outstanding father) that will do whatever you can to help him bounce back and get on track again.
It will take time but from the conversations we had about your kids they are smart and he will recover from this.
Call anytime my friend if ya need to talk.
Gary

Just had to take 5 minutes to check in...addictive here you know...thanks to all of you for your support. I just wanted to get on here and tell you all to check your house, especially the garage for things that might get hot, like a battery charger, trickle chargers, chargers for your drill, etc, etc. Never been through a fire, but this is just unbelievable...finally drained the basement...it's a mess. We have been lucky so far...the camera's cleaned up, the cards were saved, the wedding photos were saved, the photos were on the cards, 'puters are shot, salvaged most of his paint/brushes...I bought him a car, well, it's our car...you won't believe this...hold your breath...don't laugh too hard...it's a Suzuki X-90...30K miles, '98...wasn't a lot of money...it was worth it to see him smile again...you will too when you see what it looks like...lol...thanks again for your support, got to get back at it...just refilling the cooler...
