I witnessed this in person, and was like

While one part of me thinks it's irreverent and disrespectful, the other part of me thinks that in order to be TRULY offended, one's Christian walk must be pretty miserable. I don't think God expects us to sit around and be emotionless droids that never smile, joke, or laugh.

I'll put it this way: if you're ever going to do a ridiculous "Talladega Nights" prayer, there's no better venue than a racetrack in TN on a Saturday night in sweltering heat, where beer is the cool-down of choice. Being in conservative TN though, I'm sure he's received his share of "letters" at his office this week.

 

I bet his church will be full this Sunday. I find it funny, but I also am a bit disturbed. This pastor isn't only representing his church, but Lebanon, The South, and Christians too. I know I can laugh at this, but I also know this will be discussed endlessly by the Christian hypocrites around the south.

 

If you truely are christian...there wasn't a thing wrong with his prayer....God provides ALL things....even the things we don't always think we need to give thanks for...thank God for a preacher with a sense or humor...loved it...

 

That's a guy that loves God and Nascar... and of course, his SMOKIN' HOT WIFE!!! LOL

I can't think for a second that God wasn't smiling at the end of that prayer. It not only covered the bases for things to be thankful for in that venue but got people talking as well.

 

Hmmm wonder if he's a Dewy *** fan!

 

Why say it when you can SING it.
