Anyway, thanks guys... yea, a bold move for sure. But you dont' get anywhere if you don't risk something. (Wait a minute, that's what I said when I married last year............................ )
Smartass!
But you DO bring up a good point...
My current employer is very bitter. This may not be a comfy two weeks, I hope I don't have to end it early.
He (you will love this one) told me today that "you make snap decisions, your last one didn't work and I think this one will be a repeat. This won't end well and I suggest you reconsider...."
Over two years of school and the hard work of graduating with honors is a snap decision?
Perhaps he should read what I just wrote on my Facebook page.....

The new job is wonderful. Just starting my second week. I can't believe my supervisor, my co-workers or the company I work for. I should have done this years ago!
Been living in a motel for three days.
MOTEL?
Yes, the commute was too much, I am staying at an extended stay motel (about $55 a night, very nice, just remodeled!) But I "close" on a rental condo tomorrow night and move this weekend. I'll be 6.5 miles from the office. But I won't commute much - the week after next, I go on my first adventure, 5 days in PA at a nuclear power plant putting in a trunked radio system.
Oh, the condo? It's about 1600 square feet, 2 car garage, in an over 50 golf-tennis-swim community. No lawn work, no noise, no kids, no crime and the HOA president is across the road - already met him and we hit it right off!

Good Luck with the new job Mark! If you are ever in this area working on our local equiptment give me a jingle. Maybe Midge will cook a meal for you.
I just saw this thread! Wonderful and exciting news! It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and, like has been said previously, nice follow thru from the 1st time you saw the job posting.
Congratulations on the job.
If I could ask you to take one thing to them...please convince them to make android powered head units...that is all.
Good luck with the new job.

Thanks all... the job is great, but the MOVE is killing me.
Should have it all resolved this evening and move this weekend.... my first trip (if I have not posted this already) is now going to be to a nuclear plant where we are putting in a new system.

Spending the first night in my new condo - with nothing more than my clothes, overnight bag, one towel, an air mattress and a "Bed in a bag" set from WalMart. I am 6.5 miles from work... and just did a GOogle... I am 142 miles and 3 hours 2 minutes from Fontana Dam, NC.
Life IS good!

How is the new job working out? If you're around Knoxville, TN. come by for a meal with Murfi and me! We'd love to have you visit! We pray that you are enjoying the challenges of new employment and are remembering all the facts, figures and folks at Kenwood.
PACEMAKER
Congrats to you in your new adventure. By your feedback, I can tell how enthusiastic you are in this new role. Best of luck to you in the years ahead.
Later,
Later,
Reviving an old thread (since I have so many on here, no need to start a new one).
From Nick's screwball thread:
4 1/2 hours and not ONE smart remark!
Well, in the continuing saga of my career....
I'm going to work in a Nuclear power plant this fall and I am being given what THEY call "uncontrolled and unsupervised" access to the whole nuclear generating plant - including to the reactor/plant control room.
Monday is psych/drug/alcohol testing and safety training. Tuesday is "site indoctrination and dynamic learning". I guess I passed the background and credit checks today, because they emailed me the syllabus for next week and assigned some homework to be done online in the next three days to bring me up to speed.
You cannot imagine what we are getting paid to put a new radio system in that place!
The list of interesting places my job has taken me is quite long. But "Homer Simpson's office"? This takes the cake!
Last week I was at a Major League Baseball stadium planning a new system for them.. interesting, but way less security than a Nuclear plant.

At a nearby nuclear facility they recently arrested a NUN and some of her anti-nuke cronies after they had gotten within yards of the nuclear material storage facility. Maybe it's not so hard to get the "unsupervised" run of such a place after all..
