where do you put your keys when you get home?
just got this from a family member
Put your car keys beside your bed at night when you are retiring for the evening.
help others tell everyone you know, your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, thecheck-out girl at the market, everyone you run across.Put your car keys beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car.The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home forthe night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:It's a security alarm system that you probably already haveand requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from mosteverywhere inside your house and will keep honking until yourbattery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the keyfob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes offwhen someone is trying to break into your house, odds are theburglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds, all theneighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is outthere and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And rememberto carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. Thealarm can work the same way there. This is something that shouldreally be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a crime.

Shotgun behind the door works just as well (learned that from my Texas friend). That'll keep that "someone trying to get in your house" from moving on to "your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across"
...and yes, oh yes I have!

No, I don't have any small children around (ever) and my wife's Yorkshire Terrorist hasn't figured out how to fire a Remington yet.
Post #1 is a great suggestion. Best to test the range from the nite stand to the car. My General Mtrs car has a range of about 150 ft(?), Crossfire's range is much shorter. The S&W 357 that I have nearby is also a degree of comfort. I'll keep the extra XF key fob at my bedside now. Thanx for the post......

If you run out of ammo - grab the backup....
Excellent post. I had not considered doing it.Had No reason to use Panic Button. Now I can address garage violators with Tokarev as they exit. Gary

Supervisor: Why is it when you show up, the shooting always starts, Callahan?
Harry: Nothing wrong with shooting, as long as the right people get shot.
I keep my keys in a tray on the dresser in the bedroom. The distance would probably be too far from the car. But that's a great idea. Thanks for the post.
Hmmm...I always empty my pockets on the night stand next to the bed when I get home from work but I have to admit I've never thought about the potential use of the panic button on the key fob even though all of our cars have one.
Too bad Clint Eastwood didn't have a Crossfire parked in the garage in his movie "Grand Torino".
But then I guess it wouldn't have been called Grand Torino now would it.
