But all kidding aside, this event actually occured practically in my own back yard (even though I wasn't living here in 1966). We currently live due South of Ravenna, and about 1/4 mile South of St. rt. 224, and according to the police report that was filed back in 1966 that's where the whole encounter started.
I don't remember hearing or reading anything about the event when it happened, but only came across this info in the last month or so. Back then I lived about 6 miles West of where we live now.
The reason this particular sighting is significant to me, is beacuse just a few days before it happened, one of my best friends and I were standing on the sidewalk talking at around 8:30 PM (on a school night). I was about 100 yrds. from my house, when I notice an object coming from the North and heading straight South, and it passed nearly directly over our heads.
I hate to use this old "cliche" but it was indeed cigar shaped, and it had different colored lights all the way around it that didn't blink off and on, but did get slightly dimmer and then brighter in a pulsating fashion. We couldn't make out any details of the object, just a black silhouette.
As my friend and I just stood there watching it pass over us, what really stood out was that there was no sound at all, even though it looked as though it was only about 500' or so above us. It took less than a minute to complete its journey and dissappear beyond our sight.
It took about 5 sec. to sink in what we had just witnessed when we looked at each other and both said at the same time "We just saw a UFO"! He took off running towards his house and I took off for the 100 yrd. dash home too. But when I hit our neighbors limestone drivway, I went down hard and cut up my left hand pretty bad. I still have the scar.
A couple days later, I attended an outdoor party at a fellow classmates house and everybody was asking me why my hand was all bandaged up. I had to make up a story, because I didn't want to tell everybody how it really happened because they would all think I was nuts.
I have no problem telling everybody here, because You guys already know I'm nuts.
For the record, I've never seen another one since. The only reason I remember the date is because it's my friends Birthday.

What were you and your friend toking just before you saw lights in the sky? No flashbacks since.....that's a good sign there was no permanent damage.

Up until 1967, I'm pretty sure he never tried to even get high. In our little town (Mogadore) drugs didn't start to show up until after I graduated in 1968. I can only remember only a handful of guys who even smoked cigeretts back then.

I am familiar with the area you mentioned as I live in Parma, Ohio. Could you have seen the "Goodyear Blimp"? But, I guess the blimp flies pretty slow; just trying a more logical explanation of what you saw?

if it was an enemy's experimental craft, then they would have scrambled if they knew it was coming, and there is no record of that at all, but may be in the lost records, and if so they would have known it coming for sometime across the in between land. unless it had very esoteric stealth, and perhaps this is why he'd say that it was alien. However, if that be the case, that an aenemy was that far advanced to get all the way to Roswell, then why do we not see anything of that in enemy design after that? in fact, all of their advancements in aircraft from that time to the late 50's were thee result of reverse engineering OUR stuff. The korean war Mig was good, but basically a redesign of the F86.

I am surprised he's been banned. Why wouldn't a mod simply disable the multiple accounts, warn him and let him keep his initial core account? Like you, I don't have any idea what he was up to that got him kicked out and I'm not going to guess, but it must have been something that earned a ban.
And as I cruise through from time to time, I don't see anyone 'stirring' anything, Mark, except you and one or two others with a post like this. I see some really interesting stories and sides of people here that weren't evident at all times before and that's a good thing. We have a chance to explore our commonalities without the burden of partisan politics or religion eating at it from the edges.

As for the UFO sighting I experience in 1966, it was just that. An unadentifiable flying object, nothing more, nothing less.
It had no wings, it wasn't a "silent" helicopter, it wasn't a hot air balloon, or a military drone.
I'm not saying it was extraterrestrial, just never saw anything like it before or after.
I just thought it was interesting that my only "close encounter" happened just a couple days before the well documentated event in Portage County back in 1966.

I love Eurocharged like my luggage, but there are more than a few accounts all set up for the betterment of their business. Based literally on FP's rule, they should be banned. Am I wrong? Yet, they're not because they are well-liked by many on here, including myself.
Personally, I say, if you can juggle the multiple ID's, have at it. After all, if forum traffic = $$$, it seems prudent that multiple ID's would be encouraged because you spend twice/three times the normal amount of time on the threads bolstering your split personalities
.But "banning" someone for having multiple accounts, when it was known for months that the accounts existed, simply smells of a bad deal. In other words, nobody is fooled. The jig is up. And we (yes, WE) see through it.

You don't know if he was warned, so why do you comment on this? It's a policy of the forum that you can not have multiple userID for non commercial accounts. I don't make these rules. BTW, he was warned twice, and it didn't make a difference. When you have 4 IDs, and they are used to deceive, it s pretty straight forward on what we have to do.

So, what's a guy to do? Promise to never, ever sign in on the old accounts again? Put a disclaimer in his signature?

John, very simple. Just be honest and communicate. If you are asked by a mod if you have another userID or why you do, I say just be honest. Maybe you just didn't like your uerid and thought it would be easier to create a new one. No one likes to ban anyone. But when someone lies about it, and then goes ahead and use it to deceive, what do you expect? Everyone gets at least a warning, and every situation is reviewed and decided on it's own merit.
If you here mistreated for your religious conviction, you should have reported the incident. We can't read every post. There are mechanisms in the forum to report a post, or you can PM, or email a moderator. I assure you it will be looked at objectively.
