What is the world coming to? I am stunned.

I actually made a real 'weapon' in the metal work class in school, I never thought about the consequences at the time. It was a hand held smooth bore pistol, rather crude looking that fired 5/16" diameter ball bearings using a fuse and gun powder. It was powerful enough to shoot the ***** through both sides of a gallon oil can.

It was a craze at school for a while until one boy managed to shoot himself in the throat, the ball rolled down into his lungs and required surgery. He had graduated to using fertilizer, a rather unstable mixture.

I also tried to make nitroglycerin in the chemistry lab, an abysmal failure when I tried it I'm glad to say.

What was I thinking? I guess I never thought, boys will be boys.

The Internet exposes it. There will be less of it. Gary

At the age of 12, I formed a pile of mashed potatoes into the shape of a woman's' breast.

I was arrested and convicted of 4th degree sexual assault.

I am now out on parole. Age 53.

I am for these laws, but only when some sense is used in the application.

Sadly too long ago. LOL

Had I been caught I would have got caned. Not taken down by an armed squad of policemen, jailed and forced to take psychological counseling. Those where the days, I miss them.

Sorry Max...but common sense isn't taught in school anymore. I fought the school system here once when one of my son's, who did just fine his whole school career even though diagnosed with Noonan's Syndrome, was teased and pushed around in the hallway one day. The bully's knowing his Dad was a cop, ask him what he was going to do about it, tell his Dad, get his Dad's gun? He answered "If he had too." That was enough for a 5 day suspension. Lose of grades. The bully's, got nothing. We, Mom and Dad were summoned from our work to come get him, then were treated like the worse parents ever. As you can imagine, Ole' Doc, blew a fuse like never before. I looked the principal, vice principal right in their dumbass eyes, and said, The only one you will ever have fear walking in that door with a gun is me. Me coming to arrest the bullying SOB's that just battered my son, followed by cameras from the local news stations. You explain to them how a handicaped kid can be bullied while teachers stand by and watch, and only react when gun is mentioned. He did what he had to do to defend himself. I told the deputy who interviewed my son to arrest me and my son, but keep in mind you just broke the law by questioning a minor without the parents there. Illegal in this state. I told the judge my story when this went to a hearing, she threw it out, asked for the principals to come to her court. But my son in his junior year didn't want to go back there to graduate. After a talk with the school boards atty, the principal decided to move on. My son graduated the next year without incident. I made a pac with two of the biggest kids in school that had been in trouble before on the streets, to look after my son, that I would look after them....I didn't trust the school system to do that. It worked...no problems. I hate public school systems...

Doc, a couple of similar things happened to our daughter (gone now rest her soul) and son. 4 girls on the school bus was bullying her daily. I told her to get the driver and guidance councellor involved. That didn't work. I told her to try talking to them like adults, that made it worse. I told her to take the head bully on one to one and she did. She got suspended after beating the crap out of her on the bus. With the document trail, she still got suspended, but after the beating the 4 left her alone. Years later, our son got jumped on the bus coming home one day. One pinned his arms from behind while the other punched him in the eye busting his glasses. He threw the guy off him that pinned him, knocked the guy who hit him square in the nose (sat him right down), driver got involved and the bus dropped him off at the stop. I called a sheriff deputy, filled out a complaint, and they served the two a summons. The school threw our son off the bus for three days, the two got a two week suspension, and they treated them to pretrial intervention. After the judge asked them what they think they did wrong and they responded 'nothin', he gave em both a 100 hour community service order, restitution for the glasses, and made the assult a permanent part of their school record. They were brothers, both much taller and heavier than our son, but they knew not he was a 1st degree black belt (now a third degree BB serving in USAF in Minot AFB working on nuke warheads). The Mother and Father were at the pretrial, the old man looked like arnold (bodybuilder) and tried to tell me that kids will be kids. They left him alone after that day forward and some of the kids on that bus actually joined his classes for a year. The school system has many problems, one being they are unable to stop bullying. I totally agreed with how both of our kids handled these separate situations, and give a failing grade to public school systems.

When my daughter was in jr. high she was having similar problems with bullies on the bus. The difference was that they were bothering someone else and not her, she was just standing up for the other girl. I backed her up 100% and said don't be afraid to do the right thing - don't let someone do that and just stand by and watch, keep up the good work. I also let the principle know I told her that and I would have to pursue it further if anything happened discipline wise or injury. They needed to stop the root cause. In this case it seemed to work out eventually.

My oldest son had some bully issues as well at school. I always told him to never start a fight, but if he is picked on, make sure to finish the fight. Unfortunately we have those "BS no tolerance" laws here. Even if you defend yourself, you still get a ticket from the police and have to go to court. I still was behind his decision to defend himself. It seems schools and local government prefer you sit there and be a punching bag.

I'm sure that any bad guy who sees this fact will keep that in mind and act accordingly. They'll take the money and the gun, smart move.
