I'm looking at an 04 Coupe. 48,000 miles. 6 speed Graphite . Price is !0,600 from a dealer.3 mounth 3000 mile warranty. Car is a 2 owner. What should I be looking for in a car with 48000 miles, problem area's? Thanks

 

You should be looking for an accident history in the CarFax and you should inspect the body for accident damage as well. Raise the hood, hatch and open the doors, look for signs the car has been repainted.

Look on the underside of the doors for rust (see the thread "Stop the Rust while you can!).

Try to find if there is any service history for the car - are there records in the glove box (maybe with the owner's manual package) that show oil changes, etc.?

How does the clutch feel? A new clutch in these cars will set you back $1600 or more.

I know I am forgetting a lot... but that's a start.

 

Not a bad price, BTW. But dealers are usually not so reasonable - --- I kinda wonder about that.

 

Bet the seat heater is dead. You might care about it in md. The TPS system may not work. The batteries in the rims should be about dead by now. Make sure the cup holder works. These things are very reliable but when trouble strikes it can be expensive. Go get it. Enjoy.
