It's been a blast
It saddens me to type this but my crossifre is totaled. I was leaving the neighborhood on July 13th, Friday of all days, when I drove through some water that was a lot higher than I thought. My neighborhood does not normally flood but it had been raining really hard for about a week. I could barely see the front of my hood. Long story short water was sucked up into my engine cracking it. I stood there wanting to cry as I watched mobile1 spill in to the water and down the sewer drain. It was totaled.
This has hands down been the best car I have every owned. I bought mine in Sep. 2008 as a gift to myself when my cancer went into remission. I stopped counting the number of times my car turned heads or had strangers coming up and asking questions. Well, you all know what I'm talking about. I think one of the funniest moments was when I was filling her up and was approached by a homeless person asking for money. I told him no and he said "Come on man you are driving a Porsche." I couldn't help but smile and give him a buck. The beauty of the crossfire does make it seem like an exotic sportscar. That is only one of many great memories I will have forever. I want to thank all the wonderful people I met at the GTGs and wish everyone good health and happiness.

Sorry to hear this, but if it's not too late, and it is only the engine, buy it back from the insurance company.
I see several engines on car-part.com at under $1000 .......
( you would have a savage title, but you would have your baby back )

I thought about replacing the engine but with almost 100k miles other problems were bound to happen. So I made a little money on the deal and got a mustang convertible. 305hp and 30mpg is hard to pass on. Plus I always wanted a SRT6 anyways.
I am sure you will enjoy the Mustang - I had a coupe and would have loved a convertible but I found the Crossfire by fluke and it has been a great thing for me. I bought it after I was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer (note my website name!) and I am sure that having a convertible is part of the reason I am still here. Enjoy the top down on your new car and all the best with your health. Ron
