RIP Sandgrounder (Dave)
Very sad news that one of our members passed away last week.
Sandgrounder (Dave) recently retired from working in the oil fields up in Alberta, Canada.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Dave and his wife on the way to CAA in St. Louis. They met us in Limon, Colorado, and we drove out together to St. Louis. They also came out last year for CAA Colorado. I do regret not being able to make it out Reno this past August for the 3rd CAA.

When most forum members go away and never return we never know why. But just like MikeR, Sandgrounder will not be one of them. The image in his profile is a testament to his Crossfire love:

RIP Dave.

RIP Dave.
I spent a lot of time with Dave and Carol at all 3 CAA's. They planned on Rving this winter to the warm weather. He told me they were planning on going the Daytona 500,then to the Phoenix race and on the Las Vegas race. I hoped to meet him and go to the Vegas race with him. I will miss him a lot he was a great friend. My prayers are with Carol and the family.
Good bye my friend.
Good bye my friend.
WHAT?
Holy hell!
I was just thinking about him as we were flying to and from Germany last month when we saw Edmonton(sp?) on the map in the flight tracker.
Wow, any word on what happened?
Condolences to Carol, hoping the best for her.
RIP Dave! You too will be greatly missed.

Met and visited with Dave&Carol in StLouis Had a great visit with my fellow Canadiads They sure did like to travel in thier Crossfie. Our thoughts to Carol . Lorne
OMG! I can't believe it. What a great guy. Only met him and Carol at CAA3 in Virginia City this last summer, but sure was looking forward to seeing him again. What a loss. Dave liked to drive and to dive. Hopefully he is somewhere where he can do both. Condolences to Carol and the family. Will truly miss Dave.
This is indeed sad news. I will treasure the flag swap we had at CAA2 in Colorado.
RIP my friend and many blessings on your family (biological and XF) as well as all your friends as they deal with this loss.
You are missed.

My wife e-mailed Carol Mawdsley yesterday. Here is part of her reply.
Dave's obituary will be in the Edmonton Journal tomorrow, and online for a month at that point - "edmontonjournal.com". The services will be on Monday, the 17th at 11 a.m., with a viewing at 10 and a reception at the funeral home after the services. The home is Connelly-McKinley, Ltd. and they are located at 10011 - 114 St., Edmonton, AB T5K 1R5, Phone: 780/422-2222, and website: connelly-mckinley.com. And . . . there will be a closed circuit webcast of the service. I will be finding out the details, and how folks can access the service, either live, or after the fact, and let you know.
If you could pass on this information to our other Crossfire friends . . .
My heartfelt thanks to you and Joe for your friendship and your concern. I will be back in touch soon.

Indeed, thanks Joe. I am out of town for work but Sylvia is going to send out a card soon.
If you could include our condolences the next time you contact her I would be appreciative.
Dave will be greatly missed, hopefully Carol will stay in contact with the group for ours, and hers sake. She is just as much a part of us as Dave was and we want her to feel more than welcome to stay in touch, attend gatherings, whatever she is comfortable with.
