Went to clean up back garage a little, needed to put some 2x4 s in the attic . So I piled the wood on my farm tractor climbed up on top & started throwing them up into attic ! Everthing went well til my knee gave out sending me backwards ! While falling backwards some 2x4 s started coming down right at me ! Knocking me off the tractor to a 6 foot fall head 1st on to the concrete !! Well I woke up to the dog licking the blood off my face & 3 missing teeth & this hugh swelling face & head !!! Sore arm & leg but nothing broke thank God but boy do I hurt now !!! The dentist bills is not going to be much of a Christmas present either !!!! So learn from my mistake !!!! Please when you need a ladder go get a ladder !!!!

Damn! Glad you're unbroken and alive. I'm definitely not installing those damn Christmas lights now. Not worth it.

Just this minute spoke to the wife and decided not to put Christmas lights up this year, if we did put them up I would have done exactly the same as you literally a few minutes ago. So as we decided no to lights this year I came in and saw your post and think we made the right decision because clumsy me would have fallen as well and definitely not have got a ladder. Spooky or what !! I hope your injuries heel quickly.

You are a lucky man. Glad to hear your injuries are not major or well not requiring time in hospital or rehab. It has been drilled into my head since I was a kid ..... Safety First!!!!

Yes. Glad you are okay. We could all learn a lesson from this.....me included. Five minutes ago I hopped up on my tractors front end loader to retrieve a tarp to cover my boat from the shelf above. No room to set up a ladder.

Years ago I worked with a guy who retired at 65 then two weeks later fell from his 6 ft stepladder installing Christmas lights. Hit his head on the driveway and died in hospital later that day.

Sounds like a lame excuse for laziness to me.
That does not mean I might not try it on the wife sometime though.

Sorry to hear this. Consider yourself very lucky. I think it could have been worse...

Funny and yep you are right, however when we were in the UK it felt like Christmas, now in Oz it just doesn't feel like Christmas when the sky is blue and the temp is 30 degrees, hence why we have decided not to this year. Will enjoy a extra prawn on the barbie instead.

That's what you get for using a 2x4 as a toothpick. OUCH!
