Roadster, think not
I started a thread on another forum that I frequent that was intended to be a picture thread of peoples roadsters. It only took to the second reply to jump the tracks and turn into a discussion of what a "REAL"
roadster is. I did not know that real roadsters have no top or side windows, at least according to the purist. According to them we have 2 seat convertibles and being in the 21st century doesn't excuse such modern inventions as tops and side windows.
I posted a link to the MB SLK web page that refers to the car as a Roadster and the fact that our cars were marketed as Roadsters both in print ads and brochures. That basically had the same effect on the purist as poking a bear with a big stick. Bottom line, after three pages of responses there are maybe 6 photos of cars.
My car was marketed as a roadster and I always considered an open top two seat car a roadster. Besides I didn't wait 40 years to buy a 2 seat convertible even if that is technically what I bought. Just curious what others here think.

Not sure where you are getting the idea that a "roadster" has no top. If it had none (or an erector set) it would be a speedster. A roadster can have a top (and roll up windows) it must just disappear completely under the tonneau (as does the Crossfire and the Reatta and a XK-150s Jag).
If it has a convertible top that does not disappear (even if under a fabric boot), it is a "convertible (coupe)", "drop-head", or a "cabriolet" (not going to get into retractables, phaetons, or sendanicas).
ps I go by Unka Tom's definition of a Sports Car as one that can be driven during the week and raced on the weekend.
Speaking of which I may need to find a local autocross. Would need to know how to completely disable the traction control though...

Just disconnect the center 50 amp wire. No more traction control, or anti-locks.
