weather
I heard from a friend just a bit ago that Northern Indiana highways are all closed. Dept of transportation just cannot keep up with blowing snow.
We are going minus Zero here in MO soon. The highways are all still covered. MODOT has yet to clear one major Highway.
So, I closed the Packaging plant for Monday.
In my hometown of Jonesville Michigan (and I am sure all over) the news is: "Winter Storm Level 3".
Lows of -14 and by tomorrow afternoon, up to 16 inches of snow will have fallen in 48 hours. Those found traveling for non-emergency reasons are subject to arrest.
So says the State Police.
I think it's winter out there. Or UP there.

The entire Chicago area is under a wind chill advisory tonight as temps plunge into dangerous cold.
A state of emergency was declared in Northwest Indiana with only emergency vehicles allowed on area roads until further notice due to low visibility and major snow accumulations.
The transition into a deep freeze has already started.
Temperatures will drop to 15 to 20 degrees below zero.
A wind chill warning is in effect at through 12 p.m.on Tuesday.

Can't sleep with all the howling wind. 5° and still blowing over 30 mph... Long dig out in the morning. Looks like the majority of IN is in a winter storm emergency. So no driving tomorrow anyway even if I wanted to. It has been at least 30 yrs since I have seen it this crazy. Not as bad by any means of the Blizzard of '78. But still bad.

Often wondered if that is why so many neat cars come out of the Midwest - in winter there is nothing else to do.
(Was standing in the Delco Remy parking lot one wintry day. Sun not up, wind blowing, near zero and thought "I grew up in Florida, now going to spend thutty yar here to be able to retire back to Florida ? No way."
Six months later had a job 10 degrees further South.)

Back in the day we had a real winter, snow storm every week, now we have one every month or so, maybe. Where Lorne lives the whole area was blanketed with snow, houses bare on one side, and a huge drift the opposite side. They lived in tunnels under the snow, that's why the locals are so short, the result of Darwinism.
OH, BTW...it is still -11 right now.
It won't take many more winters like this one Mark to convince me...lol. -14° right now and wind is still blowing. Took most of the day to clean the driveway and get the little Suzuki started. It was blocking my Tahoe in, so I had to get it running. We survived the 1st round. We shall see how tonight goes. No snow, just cold and blowing. I may call in tomorrow. Too many counties with snow emergencies in effect. Not missing being an emergency responder right now that's for sure. Although I did pull some kids out of the ditch today while giving the Tahoe a test drive. Hope everyone is hanging in there. This is a huge storm as it looks on the weather map.
Yea, I talked to guys around the plant in Michigan today.... everyone is home due to travel restrictions (not to mention 14 inches of snow and temperatures with a - next to them).
It is now 13 here in North Georgia and everyone is asking themselves what the hell is going on...

I know what you mean Doc. The Midwest is being hit hard with extreme cold weather this season. I have not seen winters like this in many years.
WOW it is 47 here in south Florida and you from north of me may not think it is cold, you would say "if only we had 47 degrees" well we have a wet cold and it feels like 20 degrees not 47,
now you have the rest of the story (ph). the good news is tomorrow it will be back in the high 70's
my kind of weather. jim
