Because cars have gender... wait, what?
Stumbled upon this article today... couldn't agree more.
I think the whole stigma of "chick car" is asinine, and only proves to reflect an inadequacy in the accuser

A good read, if you have a few minutes... I know I've been the recipient of such comments. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn

I got a real kick out of that article. I bought a '71 MGB (used) mid 70's and drove it until the mid 80's. One daughter bought an early Miata, and her son, 18, just bought a '98 Miata. Son-in-law drives a Cayman, which replaced his Boxster. Son-in-law's dad has an old Miata - his 2nd. He bought my daughter's Miata - drove it until it couldn't drive any longer, and then bought another Miata. I really enjoy the car talk in my family - gender neutral. My Crossfire gets its share of discussion (and admiration).

I remember when I had my Mercury Capri. I read some review that said it was a car that a first year dental hygienist would drive. I loved that little turbocharged ragtop sewing machine. Loads of fun. WTF do they know.
I don't get bothered by things like target demographics... as long as the ingredients are present for a rewarding drive, I'll drive it!
90% of the time, said "chick car" comments come from a person that bought their car simply because it is popular with other men.
For me, the ingredients are simple: engine in the front, drive wheels in the rear, an engaging suspension, and a big smiling piece of meat in the middle.
Brands, and badges, become irrelevant when those four things come together.
Enjoy the drive...

OK JHM2K, how did you put the "like, & share" button at the bottom?
I just saw it pop up in my reply. Mist be something new here. I like the like.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_car Wikipedia has spoken. The Miata is a girl car :P
In fairness I don't think the Miata meets their stated definition: "Girl cars tend to be cheap, little, cute and gutless."

Haters are gonna hate Carl.. Kinda like Prius drivers on the Corvette..
I have to say, after driving Miatas, I can definitely see the redeeming qualities in them. They're basic, responsive, and pure.
The newer Mazdaspeed versions remove any femininity from the design cues of the "standard" one... I quite like them.
Agreed on FP's comment, LOL
My definition of a good "chick car", at the risk of sounding misogynist, has always been something that looks fast/sporty but is not purely focused on speed and/or handling... for example: the Scion TC looks sporty but has no soul.. At the same time, any woman who drives RWD and/or manual has a special place in my heart
EH, I have an SLK, I've owned several Crossfires, I've owned a Mazda Miata. I'm not ashamed, nor do I care what others think of what I drive.
While I generally agree, only one car comes to mind as being something that is designed to be intended to be driven by a very feminine person. The VW Beetle, the fwd one. I just can't think of a way to make it not look feminine.
Just my opinion however, wouldn't knock anybody driving one, just stating my opinion.
