Default Keeping Headlights Clear

Hi, My husband has just finished liquid sanding the headlights and they now look really good. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep them that way? A clear coating of something? Plastic cover-up sheets of some sort? Thanks!

Some people have clear coated them and others use liquids meant to preserve them. Still others have applied a thin film of special plastic. Maybe someone with more knowledge will answer you.

I installed XPel ( 3M ) covers 3 years ago, mine are still nice and clear.
Autoanything, $49.99, free shipping and a 15% discount = $42.50 ( includes fog covers also )
NOTE: there were some small bubbles after the initial installation, took almost a whole month for them to go away ......

Thank you very much for the info! I have just checked and there is a place in Oakville that sells xPel...I will contact them to make sure they have 2004 Crossfire ones and compare the prices to Autoanything. Thanks again!!

A dose of PlastX on them every month or so during the summer, and mine still look good after 4 years.

Here's what the pros use. Was used on mine and 4 yrs later they still look showroom new. UV-cured coating makes all the difference. LIFETIME WARRANTY!

Link: UV Lightrite Headlight Restoration Products And Headlight Lens Restoration Kit | CureUV.com

Use coupon code LB213 for 10% off all Headlight Restore products.

And you do not need the UV lamps to cure. Sunlight works just fine.

I'll agree with James above. I've treated headlights, fog-lights & tail-lights with Plast-X every 6 months on all my vehicles. This October will be 6 years with the XFire and all of its lights still look like new with no signs of discoloration. Same is true on my 2006 F-150 STX and I've had it 7 years this October.

Now my wife's 2006 VW New Beetle headlights have started getting that haze that's typical. Bought the 3M restoration kit a few weeks back and just need to find the time to spruce up the headlights. Folks claim the 3M kit gives excellent results.

Mine are as new so I have not had to refinish these. I wash them carefully and have used Johnson's wax and Meguiars PlastX on them before.

Meguiars has a product that I am using now called, funnily enough, Headlight Protectant.

We tried the wet sanding and the PlastX and although they are better, they aren't great. Will try the UV-cured coating restoration kit mentioned above next. Thank you!!
