I went to check on some PDFs I had saved and surprise! Every document file I have has been corrupt. Every text file, image file, PDF etc. has had an extra extension of .RRK added to it.

If I remove the .RRK, the file still will not open properly or at all.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you have been bitten by the Radamant Ransomware malware.
From what I have read, it comes attached to an email as a pdf or whatever, it encripts
windows office files and pdf's and gives you a web page demanding ransom.

That is correct what George says, it appears to be a new virus that started earlier this month.
The powers that be are are working on a program to reverse the encryption.
Google .rrk and see what it says, they say that you can pay a ransome, but how, how much I do not know. I would not want to pay someone for screwing me around that's for sure.
Do you remember downloading a PDF file lately?
Do you have any back ups stored? What anti virus software are you using?
I think I would be waiting for the fix.

There is a fix, go to
bleepingcomputer.com and download the program, the program is not finalized just yet, maybe tomorrow?
