Default How has the Covid-19 virus affected you?

I guess the title says it all really.
Locally there are dispensers for hand sanitizer in stores etc. Some people are wearing masks and the handshake has gone out the door as it can help spread the virus. Anyone in contact with a person later found to have the virus are told to self isolate. Our Prime Ministers wife has the virus and she and the PM are in isolation.
We have seen various news items from the US but not much about what about what the average US citizen thinks. So?

Went to Sam's Club and Publix yesterday, lots of available shelf space where the toilet paper used to be.
( noticed most shoppers at Sam's had paper towels in their carts - rekon why )
Same is true for hand sanitizer.
Gas was $1.88 st Sam's

all training centers for Chrysler have been closed, sure tech support will be next. Schools just closed for two weeks in my area now I figure out how I'm going to go to work and watch my son at the same time. I had a employee quit over the scare of catching the virus. Something tells me this is just the beginning of this scare.

I'm practicing 'Social Distancing' without difficulty, as I'm retired. I have some 'long shelf life' foods accumulated & will add to that as part of my normal food shopping. There's no sign of local infection, but also very limited testing.

I work in the IT department at my company. The CIO made a decision this past week that we all would work full time from home.

The board of directors of my Condominium has closed the gym, tennis courts, basketball court, swimming pool and limited the number of people that can occupy an apartment over night. All the theaters are closed, sports arenas, symphony, dance, concerts, conventions, all canceled or closed. The mall is open! I'll be working from home for the next few weeks until it's known how bad it's going to be here. So far the Wuhan virus has arrived by way of cruise ship (Italian couple) and doctor from Panama who attended the salsa festival and went to the Sheraton for music and drinks before leaving the island. He tested positive once he got back home to Panama as well as people in rows around his seat. Let's not forget where this came from. Wuhan China. I mean, Ebola from the river in the Congo, German measles from guess where, West Nile virus, etc. Boycott the name COVID-19! It's Wuhan-19 or nothing.

All diseases came from somewhere, European diseases wiped out or nearly wiped out many indigenous people on many continents so those of us of European backgrounds are not so innocent.
Keep your distance from crowds and keep your hands washed and away from your face.
Stay safe out there.

Lately all the deadly viruses come from china.
remember er the bird flu and sars.
All schools in IL are closed for 2 weeks
Heard the state of Washington schools are closed till april 28th.
New York has banned any gathering until april 28th

Funny about the toilet paper, not like it is a plague that give explosive diarrhea.
the masks do not good against corona.
the hand sanitizer, do not work.

On a good note the polution maps over china have cleared up ALOT.
And we live out of town and can't even see a neighbor, and have amazing tap water and a bidet

Our Condo Corp has closed our rec center including the pool. Our church has two campuses and has suspended all services until April at both locations. We also have a large children's/teens/seniors ministries and they are closed. Just got back from Walmart after picking up some zip ties. No run on zip ties but it looks like as hurricane went thru the food section and dry goods. We always have a few months food in stock anyway. We may drive a sharp sports car but we are pretty old fashioned. Looks like we are staying home and getting the car ready for the road and the yard ready for the warm weather over the next month.

Bidet eh? Nothing like a stream of icy water up your backside to clear your head about any virus.

Wife told me her church cancelled kung fu classes and other church events, due to people worried, but church still going on.
that doesn't make sense to me.

The small groups under 25 cancelled but large groups with older people still going on.

When will we learn? It is up to everyone to slow this to a crawl. Time is needed to tackle this thing, critical right now BUT....Way to many thinking they will not get it, and then some close to them get it. I sit back and watch everyone panic and make runs on just about every item in stores (news media reports) and now the very long lines for a test a doctor had to order to get (and they were available to proper medical authorities). Just ppl going in demanding a test, is ludacris! 16 miles up the road has a few positives, I figure if I stay in my home and not let anyone in, I'm OK. BTW, tried to call the church and deacon, no answer. That is one of many places that'll turn into a petri dish if the ppl in charge don't get smarter and either close the church or tele-church. Last but not least, the ones most likely to not have serious reactions, are the ones laughing and carrying on. When those ppl who don't watch what they are doing, catch it, and give it to a grandpa or grandma, maybe then they will wise up? Hmmmm, I doubt it... Probably just blame it on someone else like a prez…

Good news has the VA still mailing out my blue pills. Discovering the wonders of YouTube on my smart tv. Local Y is closed. Weather breaking has allowed me a few jaunts in the local hills with the Crossfire and tinkering in the garage. FaceTime has become a novel way of catching up with old friends. Upcoming St. Patrick’s Day will again legitimize drinking alone. A new clue on my ancestry has given interest in picking that up again. Online books. Perfecting a better Roast Beef Au Jois and Philly Steak.

‘Tis Heaven on Earth.

Today a cerfew went into effect from 9PM until 5AM every day until the end of March. Most businesses have to close at 6PM by order of the government. Chit's getting real with only 4 confirmed cases on the Island. To be truthful, the local government is ill equipped to handle anything at this point so I understand their extreme reaction.

There seems to be a pretty good handle on things in Canada. I wouldn't be surprised to see our borders close, particularly the US border. With all do respect to my fellow Crossfire lovers in the States, you are making us very nervous by all the BS that comes from Washington. If I were a Canadian on vacation for the winter in the southern states, I would be on my way home ASAP. It appears there is still complete irresponsibility in the US government. On a morning news show today, a member of the Trump cabinet said it was fine to go out to a bar or restaurant if you wanted to get out of the house. Dah! Most Canadians in FLA etc are in the "high risk" category to get the virus. I'd be colored gone. Just Sayin'. We are staying home and getting ahead of our house/car spring maintenance.
