After 35 years, I am back on two wheels. 2021 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT. I should have done this a long time ago...
First mod was a tach. $65 on Amazon.
Designed for "dual fire" ignition, it is not compatible with the Vulcan. So, I built an OR gate and put it in the little box and wired the OR gate to both coils, and it works fine.
(You can buy an adapter for $35 but I prefer to do this part myself).
Next up is a bit louder pipes, as this bike is simply too quiet - I'm OK in Bella Vista, but I need to announce myself better in traffic.
The Vulcan has plenty of horsepower for a 685 pound cruiser, but when I want to go fast, I'll take the Crossfire. The bike is for relaxing rides and de-emphasizing adrenaline

Been nice knowing you Mark. I'd say "be careful", but your fate is actually in the auto/truck driver's hands.
Ask me how I know : 2 sideswipes by car and one ambush by a German Shepard - a car and the dog on a Triumph 650, the other on a
LOVELY vintage 78 Yamaha 3 cyl 750 se :

You are slowed down quite a lot when you tow the crane required to get it back up on two wheels when it falls over, 😉
I see you more on a crotch rocket though.
Guys, I assure you, I am ULTRA conservative on the bike! Bella Vista is a very good place to ride - speed limit is 30 almost everywhere and the police here have NOTHING to do but enforce traffic laws.
Nice bike! Have fun and watch out for the other guy/gal/debris/animals/ice/water/delinquents and of course the latest hazard, road rage'ers... Did I miss anything???
Your riding days begin again and mine ended last year by choice
Once I got my 6 Speed Roadster I finally lost interest in motorcycles
I had several nice motorcycles over all the years since I was 16
Never a year without one and then last year I said I'm done and sold my vintage 1985 V65 Magna
Now for me its only 4 wheels and a 6 Speed Roadster
Here were my last 2 motorcycles since 2001 now both sold and gone
2000 Honda Valkyrie Interstate (1500cc) and my 1985 Honda V65 Magna (VF1100cc)
Best commercial ever for the V65 back when it was in production as the fastest motorcycle for its time
It's odd how life flows, Gary. I had NO plans to be on two wheels EVER again. I then moved here, to Bella Vista, Arkansas. I heard myself tell my sister, 'This is the ONE place I'd ride a bike again"; that was soon after I moved here, early 2020.
I kept thinking that, kept having dreams about being on a bike again. Finally, I test drove a used Vulcan 900 and felt at home on it. VERY at home. In a few days, I had a new 2021 Vulcan 900.
I was searching - for what I do not know, I guess I was looking for the feeling I had when I drove my first Crossfire Roadster in 2009.
I now have three 9's.
Crossfire SE Roadster - $9000
Ford Ranger Edge - $9000
Kawasaki Vulcan 900 - $9299
THIS is not how you live within your means. THIS is how you live BELOW your means, but enjoy every minute of it.

I wish you nothing but good times and safe rides
I'm pretty sure I'll never be back to riding again but then who knows in a few more years I will be retiring and moving somewhere south from Illinois
Not sure where yet but somewhere less congested than Chicago suburbs
We do have nice open land just west from where I currently live but just straight roads and farm houses surrounded by corn fields.
Relaxing rides but boring as well.
Now you need to remind yourself that you need to remain living where you are to enjoy all it has to offer for the years to come
