has anyone purchased this new digital camera? thoughts?

its time for a slim-line camera. the old sony i have is too big for my liking.

 

the big problem i had with those cameras is the way they fold the image to travel up and down the camera body instead of the traditional lens (that's how they make it so thin). i couldn't find a review of the T7, but check out the T5 review http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/so...ew/index.shtml it takes just a mediocre image; that trait goes across the product line. it is pretty novel though, and the size is a big selling point.

i ended up going with the Canon SD500 (a 7MP camera; the 5MP SD400 didn't get good reviews).

the camera i currently have is the canon G2 powershot (4.0 mp). great camera...excellent pics but just too big imo.

 

i hear ya. i used to have an Olympus C-2040Z... an ancient 2.1MP from 2000, up until about 4 months ago.

 

i think i am going to go with the sony T5. the casing is metal and seems to be more durable than the T7 (plastic) imo. the size is nearly identical. i stopped by circuit city today to compare the two. thanks for the T5 report.

i am wanting the small camera for the sema show in vegas come november and the convenience down the road.

 

I have the DSC-T1 5.0 MP the one they use in the commercial when the lead singer from aerosmith goes by and the girls snap a shot of him. Its a great extremely thin camera with the largest LCD screen on any camera yet, however, i was taking pics of my XFire after i waxed it and the camera just shut down and wouldn't work. Sent it in to Sony and they replaced the Motherboard. Apparently the Motherboard fried??? How that happens on a 6 month old camera i don't know; but they got it fixed and back to me in 10 days all under warranty.

Aside from that incident the camera is awesome and has alot of awesome features. I would highly recommend it. The one you are referring to is their new one which is basically mine with just .2 more mega pixel and a slight different housing.

 

i did end up purchasing the T5 due to the metal housing. i am looking forward to using it at the sema show in vegas come november. i will post pics when i return (of the crossfire cars & goodies).

this camera will be real handy come vacations due to its compact size.

 

Sony cameras are awesome. Wait til you see the quality of the pics. They are awesome.
