Default Help with Chrysler Crossfire History Check

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying a used Chrysler Crossfire and want to make sure I do all the right checks before committing.

I know it's based on a Mercedes platform, but I’m not sure what specific things to look out for when checking its history.

Are there any common issues, recalls, or red flags I should be aware of?

Also, are there particular services or tools that work best for running a comprehensive history report on these cars?

Any advice from current or former owners would be greatly appreciated.

It's worth the money to get a CarFax report. You'll get a service history, list of locations it was registered to, how many owners.
Seeing where it's been is important. My car has been a north east car it's entire life, so the first thing I looked for was rust. I was very lucky.
If you're buying a convertible, check the seam around the rear glass. Make sure it's not re-glued or falling in. Also check the seams on the rear sides for splits.
Test the top operation, make sure it works up and down. Make sure you have both key fobs if possible. Test drive the car with the radio off and listen for any odd noises.

I reglued mine 11 years ago and it is still fine. The most important thing is proper prep, cleaning and following the instructions on the primer and adhesive. I must admit, living in California may also be a factor.
