What is a delete kit in cars and what are the pros and cons?
Hello everyone.
I’ve been researching performance upgrades and keep coming across delete kits for diesel and some performance cars. From what I understand, these kits remove or bypass emissions systems like the EGR, DPF, or SCR/AdBlue components, but I’m not fully clear on what is actually included in a typical delete kit.
I want to understand what changes are made to the engine system and whether there are real benefits in performance, fuel economy, or reliability. On the other hand, I’ve also heard there can be legal issues, warning lights, or long-term engine risks.
Can anyone explain how these kits work and share real-world experiences or advice before considering anything like this?

I want to understand what changes are made to the engine system and whether there are real benefits in performance, fuel economy, or reliability, similar to what people report with a cummins delete kit. On the other hand, I've also heard there can be legal issues, warning lights, or long-term engine risks.

The only "delete" I am aware of on the Crossfire is the aft most catalytic converters (they do not have O2 sensors) and the resonater from the exhaust system of the SRT6.
Most people do that to change the tone of the exhaust system, or simple do not want the added expense of replacing a catalytic converter. I do not think it adds much in the way of performance improvement, perhaps some, but not much.
I've done both on my SRT6, but I do not live in a state that requires smog/safety testing.
I haven't heard of anyone removing the EGR system.
Others have deleted the SKREEM, but that has nothing to do with performance.

The ONLY advice I can offer, is check with all the laws in SPAIN, and if you can make changes to your systems legally then OK. If not, then don't get caught.
