A great idea functionally, but less that attractive cosmetically. Where our stock consoles are all silver in color I fear the "bin" may look like a hole in the console. It could serve a purpose to store a few small things where the cup holder goes basically unused. I'll stick with the closed cup holder.

Actually the bin does not take away from the looks of the console ! It's easy to install and very functional. Great place for the wallet, cell phone, blackberry, etc, etc, etc.
BTW thats a great price on Ebay, the Stealership will charge ya 50 bucks for part and shipping. !

Just my Dos Centavos !

Why don't you use the Homelink garage door opener that is built in?
It was kind of a pain to set up the first time but it works great.

I was thinking this same thing, I wonder if base models don't have it, or his is broken, or maybe the more correct answer would be he had no idea it exsisted.

I by-passed the whole thing,
took the car to a mexican upolster shop last year, he glued in 1/8" thick foam padding, then wraped it all in matching black leather. very classy and easy on the elbow. highly recommended modification.

So does that mean you have a homelink just sitting around collecting dust?!?!? If so, I'd definitely be interested in taking it off your hands if someone hasn't done so already.

I just got my crossfire this week, and I have the base model... mine came with the bin which isn't big enough for my cell phone (LG Voyager). I have a 30 min commute to work and I always drink coffee on my way to work. Anyone have a cup holder they're willing to give me or perhaps a trade? (I'd rather not trade in case the cup-holder is as big a nightmare as everyone seems to think it is.

Trying to keep a boiling cup of coffee anywhere in the car or holding it is a nightmare.

Finally got around to installing it. Decided to paint it first. When with five coats of Krylon Aluminum Chrome and clear coat. Pretty good color match.
