Default Interior Trim Problem

Hello everybody, I just purchased a 2004 Crossfire when I was on leave from iraq in May. I just returned home from my tour, and have a few bones to pick with the dealer. I was wondering if there was ever a recall on the 04's for their interior? I ask this bvecause it is pealing something firece. I have two tone dark greyish black and a light grey color scheme. The light grey paneling on the doors, dash and center console appear to be painted that light grey color, for the edges have wear on them revealing the black color the actual molding was made from. I'm aggreviated because the material color should have been molded not painted over.

Has anything like this happened to you vehicles?

There is a TSB for the paint peeling on the console, but I do not remember if the other parts are covered. Print a copy of the TSB from the technical section of the forum and present it to the dealer's service manager, they may cover all of the affected interior parts. Good luck,
Dennis

There have been a number threads about this. Search for"peeling" in the interiors forum?

Hey I found this one posted:
23-016-05 CENTER CONSOLE CUP HOLDER/STORAGE BIN EXCHANGE 2005-03-09

Is this what I need to bring with me to the dealership?

So then what do I bring the dealership? Does anybody have a link for the TSB for the center console?

This has been an on going problem with not only the XFire, but also the Mercedes SLK's. I have read at least one thread on the MB site about getting this paint. Go to www.benzworld.org and scroll down to R170 (that's our chassis). Do a search for console paint, touchup, etc. Good luck...

If you have no luck with the search feature, register on the site, and ask about it. I have been on the site for several months, and they welcome XFire owners.

recalls are only for safety issues and tsb's are only covered if the cars still under warranty............
