Default A/C blower half speed

I been having a problem with my blower fan on my A/C. Some days it will blow fine full blast and other days will only do like half speed, no matter what speed setting the fan switch is on. I have tried all different ways from using the recirc button and then turning it off and still same. The temp coming out is cold, its just the fan speed..Anyone having this sort of problem??

I've had the same problem on very hot days. The fan will run at about half speed for a while, maybe a minute or two, then kick up to high speed.

I think that when the temp setting dial is set to a temp that is a big difference to the actual temp in the car that the fan goes to high speed to achieve a faster cool down time. The fan speed then goes to the set speed when the temp is close to the dial setting. I think that the reverse may also be true, that when the difference is small then high speed is not possible as it is over ridden. Automatic air conditioners have a mind of their own, so maybe some of the parameters are in the manual ones, like ours, as well.

When I turn on the AC switch the fan would blow at full blast even thought it is set on 1 and when i turn the **** to the off position the ac light will stay on and (cold air) will keep blowing. This only happens with the AC switch. This has been happning and is only getting worse. Anyone have a solution?

you should try checking your fan control module and the terminals at the cabin fan, this seems to be a common problem

I have a similar issue with the AC although its more of a noise issue. It sounds like a piece of paper is stuck in the blades...but it comes and goes which make me suspect the blower bearings? It only happens during the summer because I'm in Florida and our winter here is time to drive with the windows open.

I have stopped by the dealer because its an intermittent thing. I showed it to my service writer so he can hear it. They blamed it on leaves although I don't follow that one. I am going to try and pull the blower out and examine it myself before taking it in for service so that they don't hit me with a ridiculous bill.

Anyone have a issue like mine? What did it turn out to be?

Mine was making noise and I pulled off the fan cover and found a bunch of small twigs and leaves. I would have thought the air would be filtered before reaching the fan but I guess not!

What did you have to do to remove the cover? Do you know the page it is on in the service manual?

Scratch that...I should look before asking... =) I found it.

This may be a major problem. My motor completely stopped blowing the week before Carlisle. I was gonna take the car in yesterday to get it checked out. I turned it on and it worked after not working for two weeks. We should notify Chrysler of the issue pursuant a TSB. Comments?

Spent some time fixing various things on my car this weekend, one being the noise from the blower. Needless to say, there were leaf stems and small debris in the blower. Dropped the assembly, gave the entire motor a good cleaning...no more noise. Was a surprisingly easy job!

I just started having a similar problem. Yesterday my fan was blowing even though the switch was turned off. Even when I set the speed on max, it still blew at the same speed. I tried just about every combination with the ac on/off and different fan speeds, made no difference. This morning everything was back to normal.

Question Re: A/C blower half speed

Dealing with a similar issue. Fan blows normally and will cut out completely whether A/C is on or off. Regardless of Recirc function. Usually turns back on in a min or so.

A faulty blower regulator. Using the VERY helpful and affordable services of www.justanswer.com , a 30 yr ASE technician, walked me through diagnosing the problem for $28!!! I happily tipped him as I installed the new regulator last night and everything is perfect. The part purchased through a Benz wholesaler was $146 shipped - as compared to the $450 Chrysler dealer quoted me, not to mention the $200 for labor. In all it took about 45 mins of actual diagnosis, removal, and installation. The toughest part was working upside down under the dash. Needless to say I will use this service EVERY time before going to a dealer. The guy I worked at justanswer.com is named Tim Mohr.
