OK, My solution to the cupholder dilemma.
I got some ideas from this forum and added to it.

I kinda like the lid idea you came up with, for myself I might make the lid with plain piece of material (plastic or wood) and spray paint it with VHT black wrinkle paint..

BTW, add a couple feet of plastic tubing and you'll have a fantastic beer bong.

I got the cupholder at advance auto and used two one inch 90 degree angle brackets. I glued nuts on the one hole of the bracket. Used original bolts from the plastic hangers in the other hole in the brcket. Drilled a hole on each side of the cupholder an attached to the bracket. I got this idea from the forum. I thought it would look better with a lid when not in use so I cut board and covered with material from fabric shop (matched really close) added decal I had. I hope that explains it.
