Peeling Center Console
I have read every post i can in the search box about peeling consoles. I have a 2004 gray interior with 19k miles. The center console is starting to have pieces of the gray come off and expose the black underneath it. I have read that some people use touch up paint to fix this but never mention a brand or type. Is there any fix to this problem? I am half tempted to pull the stupid thing out and sand it till its all black. Thanks for any help!

Go to an auto paint supplier(e.g. Sherwin Williams- Automotive) and have them match the color for you in an interior trim paint.. but only if you know how to spray with an HVLP gun. otherwise just go to an auto repair shop and have them do it.
I doubt you will get lucky enough to find the color you need in a spray can.
Good luck with it!

No clue.. Id have to guess about $150 and up. But im not really sure what exactly you need painted
You may be able to save a few bucks by taking it out of the car yourself and preping it for the shop (sanded and primered). That way all they have to do is spray it for you.
Any pics of the damaged area?

I had my interior completely recolored by a franchisee of ColorGlo. Check their website for someone local to you. Color Glo International
They were reasonable and they came right to my home.

Check around in your area for a local auto trim repair repair shop, they have people that do this kind of stuff like new seat covers, new tops, repair small burns, rips, tears, paint peeling and so on, they should be able to paint your console parts.
I will look around locally. Is the center console hard to remove? I would much rather do that myself then leave my crossfire with them for them to rip apart. I will upload pictures on my lunch break today to show you the peeling. It was almost non existant a few months ago and slowly more and more spots are starting to appear
removing center console is pretty easy. download pdf file from this post

Thanks for the tips everyone. It should be fun trying to find a place I would trust here in Louisville, Ky.
here are pictures of two locations where the peeling appeared and is now getting worse. I attached them below

Well trying to find a good place would be word of mouth, but also if the shop is good enough and those are the only spots, I knew a place called new life and they could do that in your car without pulling out the console. You might try angies list for your area for reference of a shop.

Your question is why I suggested checking out Color Glo International
They come to you and will give you a quote. Check their website. I had the entire interior redone, both leather and plastic.

The part needs to be completely repainted... not just over the damaged area, but the entire piece. the old paint must be stripped down and with these plastic parts you really need to use a good adhesion promoter before repainting. If it is just touched up and not completely redone it will probably eventually peel back up... plus you will probably also be able to visually tell it was patched up
From the looks of the area damaged I'd say its from frequently resting your arm there. Just dont continue to place your arm there and it wont happen again once its repainted.

My point is you don't need to repaint the whole panel if it is done by a professional that knows what he is doing. My car is living proof of that.
Hi Guys
Just did my console with 3M vinyl paint (Dark Grey) and it matched [update: Almost] perfectly, [There is a difference in Colour once it dried and I put it back in the car, Could have been a little bit darker, Never mind I am still happy with the result]. I bought it from a supplier here in Australia. Comes in a spray can and was easy to apply.
3M Vinyl Paint Dark Grey - Supercheap Auto
As 3M are in the US also I am sure you could find stockists there.
Cheers

Mine is doing it really bad. I just got a quote for $200.00 to have the whole console wrapped in leather. I will be having it done very soon. The car is actually at the shop right this minute getting the headliner and plastic pieces all covered in suede. The paint is going to chip. That is what made me decide to cover it with leather.
