Default Shed some light on the subject...

I bought 16 ft of 12v waterproof LED lighting w/self adhesive mounting tape. The strip of LEDs is manufactured so it can be cut in 4" segments. Cut to length, then soldier two wires on and you are ready to go. Very easy to work with.

I wanted the lighting controlled the same as the dome light. So it had to be tapped into the circuit after the domelight due to the switching feature. So I decided the easiest way was to simply splice the cargo light wire. I was able to do that without pulling of bunch of interior stuff out but rather just pull some panels partly loose.

Now I need to replace the dome light bulbs to color match closer and I will be all set.

Looks very nice -- do you mind my asking where you ordered the strips from?

On the driver side, I used an 8" and 12" strip. On the passenger side I used two 12" strips. If you can soldier, buy the full strip as I did. If you can't, you can buy them all individually but at a much higher cost. Most other sellers seem to sell them complete or in smaller pieces.

Here is where I bought them. Arrived in about 3 days after I purchased. Nice stuff:

Looks good James.
I went to the Ebay link and right now the seller only has colors and not white.
I sent him a message at Ebay asking him if he still sells WHITE.

Looks cool.

Now if I only knew how to solder...

Looking good, I used the mopar kit which has several colors (16 different shades) red, blue, green, white. Mopar was offering $2k back in dealer accessories when we bought the 2010 Challenger, so I got a set for her car and the xfire, love them both and have had no problems in over a year.

Looking very good, I like it...

Too bad I have a Roadster, I don't have a Cargo light to tap into, and if I do, I sure can't find it...lol...

I like the idea of it following the Dome Light, but I hate the idea of pulling apart the Dome and windshield column, just to hot wire LED's under the Dash.

Sure would be nice to tap into the Dome Light circuit somewhere under the Dash, or engine compartment, but I don't think that's possible.

Any Roadster ideas other than the Dome circuit for dimming and on/off control, are welcomed...

The roadster has a light in the trunk, just as a coupe has a light in the rear cargo area. Not sure about the roadster light coming on when the doors are open. Hide your wife in the trunk and test it !

Tempting, but if she goes belly up from lack of air, I might be forced to go and get a real job...lol...

She's the bread winner lately and the last thing I want to do is pi$$ her off.

Also, I think that light in the trunk only comes on when the trunk lid is open, there's no reason why they would light a closed trunk when either passenger door opens...

I did a similar install a couple of years ago. I tapped into door-switched 12VDC in the passenger A pillar. Very easy.

Wouldn't it be true for the coupe as well? But it does.

Simple solution find a neighbor with a bratty kid who needs to be punished and have them put the kid in the trunk....

or you could always use a smart phone or something with a video and close the trunk and quickly open and close the door a few times....

I like the first idea better because I tried it with my smart phone and it doesn't come on when you open and close cabin doors. That's the answer you wanted, but not as much fun.

Mystery solved! So the next easiest splice would be at the dome light itself. Thanks Eric.

Hey I just bought the supplies etc (you can get 2 12" very bright LED strips at autozone for 20 bucks... a bit pricey, but probably safer and just down the street...)

Did anyone discover a better place to tap into the lighting controlled by the Dome? Or is the rear cargo light the best we have???

A dramatic effect. And it will encourage you nightly to keep the floor boards immaculately vacuumed.
