Default Help w/ Footwell LEDS

Bought a couple of 15" SMD strips to light the footwells. Would like to have the footwells synced with the maplight. Does anyone know where the wires for the maplight run?

Footwell Ambient Lighting (All Colors)

I did mine and they came out awesome...especially when you put LEDs in the map light as well. I tapped into the wires through the A-Pillar on the passenger side. I'll look for the link with the exact directions

I wired mine into the cigarette lighter circuit so whenever the car is turned on the lights come on as well automatically.

Yeah they are on all the time but it's an easy to access power source. If you pull on the socket it comes right out so you don't need to tear out the dash at all.

Are the LED's also dimmable like the original map light's?

And anybody maybe have a good link for me where to get them, Forum or "buy them here" link.

Also need to find a way to have more light in the trunk with LED's maybe, but i'll spend some more hours searching the forum's.

I followed the link in message #3 above showing how to hook up to the map light so yes, they dim along with the map.

Just curious but specifically how did you pull the socket out? I had trouble trying to pull my cigarette lighter out, are there tabs or something I need to do for it to come out with ease?

As stupid as it sounds I just stuck my thumb in the socket, got a grip and it came right out.

Mine is broken and will not stay in its socket. So, mine is really easy to remove! haha

Hello , I too would like to put 2 led light strips in both foot wells. Can you give directions on how to install, How's the best and easiest to run wires from "a" pillar to both foot wells, Thanks.

It's easier to wire it into the cigarette lighter or the switched 12V source that the stereo plugs into. Both are switched sources and will turn on when you turn the ignition on.

Try here for "A" Pillar removal...

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...light-tap.html

I tapped into map light. Red wire is +, Brown/Yellow is the - that goes with the map/door light control. Both run down the passenger "A" pillar. This will allow the lights to dim with the map light. The cigarette and stereo leads will not dim, but remain on till the key is turned off.

Yes I would like to have them work with the dome light. Thanks for the link on how to remove the "a" pillar . Just have to find a easy way to run wires , not having to rip apart radio, center console or anything else , Any Ideas ? Thanks.

I was able to snake the wires through the center console by pulling the radio. Tapped the drivers side strip into the passenger strip and ran the lead from the passenger strip up to the "A" pillar. I believe there was a panel I pulled on the side of the glove box that let me fish the wires up into the pillar.
Removing the radio was the easiest way to see the wires being fed through. Just go to Walmart and look for ones like these...
