Radio
Need to change my radio and wondered what ones other owners have fitted to match the interior and that fits.
I really do want a cd player in it. I did see one on here once but just can't find it anymore and don't find the search facility very good. Thanks

There are good reviews and a good price on the Blaupunkt Helsinki :

No guarantee, but it should also be plug and play with the existing harness.

If you're looking for silver units - look at marine head units. Functionally they're no different, just saltwater-proofed and much more likely to come in silver. A few of us have Clarion M502s, the head unit itself is nothing special, but matches the dash quite well. Unfortunately it doesn't have a CD player. Kenwood has some nice looking marine head units, and I'm sure others do as well. At a quick glance the Kenwood KMR-555U and Clarion M303 look like possible matches...
Unfortunately, most vendors show the Kenwood KMR-555U as not available or discontinued.
Try the Kenwood KMR-D558BT, about $150 US ( before shipping to Oz ) and is silver and has BlueTooth.
You will need a conversion harness for this, however, and also an antenna adapter.
( The Volkswagen harness and antenna adapter usually work )
with a 2.5 volt pre-amp out, you'll have to wire the speaker wires to drive the amp, don't use the pre-amp out plugs.

I have a Clarion M303 that has CD and matches the dash. I also prefer many buttons to one **** because I do not need to look at it or read a display. It also has an internal microphone and Bluetooth for HFP.
Or with any radio with an AUX input you can use one of these:

however I have a couple of questions. Some photos show the display as blue some show as red, I prefer blue so does it come with both. Does this unit slot into the coupe without any additional harnesses etc. Is it just plug and play and where is the cd slot is it hidden by that top plate.
Should say it's a pity it's not silver !!
I kind of love mine. It's removable (for when parking with the top down), Bluetooth conversation/music streamable, has a touchscreen, plays DVDs (hours and hours of music, and video when parked) and doesn't cover up the temperature controls. Check out my pictures. The manufacturer is Inteq.

Also, if you have a base crossfire like mine, I recommend replacing the door speakers as well. 50 dollars got me a pair of pioneer on amazon that are a TON better than stock. Looking into putting an amp and sub in my Xfire now. Good luck
Thanks everyone, great info and will probably go for the Kenwood KMR-D558BT, just a pity it needs a harness so will have to order that as well. Not too sure what people mean about an antenna adapter, is that to lengthen it of does it have a different fitment to a usual antenna.
Does anyone have any links to the correct harness and adapter needed for a coupe please.

This is the adapter I used:
By the way.. the wiring harness you need is this guy here:
Amazon.com : Scosche VW01B Power/Speaker Connector for 1986-Up Volkswagen : Vehicle Audio Video Accessories And Parts : Car Electronics
No cutting involved.. You plug this into the existing harness, it's bare wire on the other end. Your Kenwood will come will also have bare wires on one side. Get some butt connectors or solder the two together. Click, click, you're done. Takes maybe 10 minutes, don't even have to do it in the car.

Great thanks just have to find someone now who will post harness and antenna adapter to Oz at a sensible price.
