Never did like the cheap looking silver dash trim.

I have absolutely no negative feelings about the glossy silver finish on my 04's center dash and console, never have and probably never will (until it comes time to try and locate a piece that may need to be replaced.)
But I've got to say that "Piano" black finish looks down right classic.:
Nice job.

I also have no issue with the silver trim in my Crossfires. The black overlays you installed look great!

Thanks for the comments. Funny, with how long I have had the car and how many mods, I still stumble upon new stuff from time to time. Paddle shifters next...

That looks good but it's a good thing I have a small laptop as I had to turn it on end to see it. I always liked the color but not the plain plastic look, so made my own overlays from silver ostrich skin material. I've had mostly good responses to it. The classic black is a good look, nice job.

I guess our silver console is hit or miss. I loved it from day one I saw it and I always felt like it's actually a step up from the SLK 320/230 even though I know the car magazines don't agree.
That being said, even though I love the look I looked into overlays recently and wanted to go with a brushed aluminum which would eliminate the "plastic" look to it. However, I didn't like that the overlays don't wrap around, leaving the sides of the silver exposed.
I really have to say on your piano black overlay that does not bother me one bit and I will go so far as to say it even looks cool with a little silver still sticking out Very well done. I might check out the overlays again soon!
Besides that, beautiful and clean car!!! What's that AMG tag on the cup holder??
