tire air pressure indicator
My tire air pressure indicstor light won't turn off. My mechanic said it was a certain computer program was needed to correct it. Do I go to a Chrysler or Mercedes dealer or some where else?
No one here yet has needed a reprogramming unless they have had a new sensor fitted and you do not mention that you have new sensors.
Thanks for the reply. I don't believe he replaced anything. He had researched it tho' . Where are those batteries located? Are they shown in the manual?
Each tire sensor has a built in, non-replaceable battery with a life of @ 10 years.
OK,I must be a little dense. If the battery is non-replaceable, what's the solution ?
2 choices :
1. disable the TPMS, ( search Google custom search above for that )
2. replace the TPMS sensors and hope to find a dealer that will program the new sensors. ( more googling )

For what's worth local Chrysler dealer, normally reasonable and fairly good at
diagnosing and repairing Crossfire problems wants $500 +/- to replace all four
Costco wants $255 understand just recently outside programming became available
previously you had no choice except with a dealer

A little piece of black electrical tape placed directly over the TPMS light on the dash and you wont ever see it again
Just like the good old days before unneeded technology use a tire gauge and check them every so often
Problem solved

If that feature is OEM equipment it probably has to be working in many states and provinces.
Cry as you loud as you want but BIG BROTHER has you by the short and curlies.
I wonder how they test it, if the TPMS module 'bypass' is done (the wire move from one pin of the connector to the unused one), does the lamp light during the 'bulb' check portion of the key turn sequence? How about someone who did the mod, does the 'lamp check' show the bulb filament lighting up? If so how would the 'testor' know the system is disabled? Questions, questions... So, anyone who did the 'mod' want to see if the light lights when the key is first turned during startup?
I checked on my cars (two with the mod and one still operating OEM) . . . Unfortunately after the 'mod' the low tire pressure light on the dash does NOT come on during start up to verify that the bulb is good.
That way we can squeeze through inspections.
( I don't really care, the only inspection here in Alabama is if you are capable of signing your name on the check for license tag renewal )

So a 'X' counts?
I must have the only decent dealer around. They still employ a mechanic who has been trained on the Crossfire and told me if I needed a new TPM that it would be the cost only, they would program it for $o. Yesterday I needed two slip nuts for the front wing on the hood, they let me go through some bins of these, pick out what I needed, gave me a little plastic bag and didn't charge a dime. Anything I have purchased has been for less than MSRP.

Rebecca went out and found a round "Black " Patch that did the trick...I never notice it when driving her Crossfire.
