Air bag disable light separated from the bezel.
Hi from a new member in Southern Maryland. Picking up the car this week. I have a question which I might post on the standard forums. Maryland has safety inspections which are a pain.
This car has an air bag disable light that separated from the bezel. So there is a hole there now.
Are there photos of what the bezel looks like and how it's attached?
It's not a big deal, the previous owner never needed it. But for the inspection I probably need to get it back in the hole.
I have been reading some threads but I am still not sure if any surrounding trim has to be removed or if I can just pry this cover off with a plastic trim remover tool.
I want to get an idea of what I might need to fix it both in getting access and how it is supposed to be attached. Since I don't have the car yet I can't see the details or just dig in. But I have 30 days from temp registration for the safety inspection to be completed and if any parts are required it would be good to know what those might be.

Go to the technical section of the forum. Look under TBS an How to articles, there you will find a "sticky" of crossfire documentations. You will be able to download a copy of your service manuals and owners manual if its not in the glovebox. Welcome to the forum. Here's to many sunny days. Enjoy the (s)miles.

Thanks that's good to know. Hopefully it's able to snap back in. Does the bezel cover just snap off the housing? I tried to understand another discussion but it wasn't clear to me. Sounded like either tabs with catches or pins (2or4). Would anything else have to be removed?

Re: Air bag disable light separated from the bezel.
I tried to use my trim tools to remove the air bag disable light panel section today. It did not want to come out and I was afraid of breaking the 12 year old plastic. Is their a trick to removal or does it not come off separately as I thought.?
Re: Air bag disable light separated from the bezel.
I am guessing but I would think that the snaps on the rear of the panel have to be opened a little to free the part and allow it to be removed from the front.

My previous post does not make too much sense as it is a bit ambiguous, the whole panel including the ash tray and cigarette lighter has to come off to get to the rear of the unit as shown in my earlier picture.

If I were you, before unplugging that air bag light, I would disconnect the NEG battery cable for a few minutes. I am a firm believer that doing ANYTHING with the SRS system, be sure and take the NEG cable off the battery. IF it matters, your going to have to spend a lot of $ to reset the system.

Once again, and done. It is a wise move to disconnect the NEG battery cable before doing work in or around the SRS system. George recommended also turning on the iggy to further drain the electronics. Hope you have no trouble that's for sure.
