Has anyone done this on the forum here? I didnt find anything searching but wanted to double check.
All of my bmw's have the heated steering wheel (either came with it or I converted them to it) and Im pretty spoiled when it comes to the feature
The crossfire I have which was ala_xfires doesn't have it and from what I can tell it wasn't offered as a factory option. I have all of the part #'s, wiring diagrams and such for the slk 320 and it looks pretty straight forward of a swap but I wanted to see if anyone had done it before I did it.
Looks like a nice swap, but for me ,i would like a cooled down steering wheel, in the Florida sun , i drop a towel over my steering wheel to keep it cool when the car is outside,,, now if i lived up north i would like this mod thanks for the info.

Was this a factory option for the R170’s? The only thing I found that option for was for an R171 Canadian SLK 350. I’m just curious as I’ve wanted to mod/update the XF steering wheel for awhile. They had no problem adding controls on the C Class and the R171 SLK’s. I know our car is based off of the R170 but I’m sure some more thought could’ve been put into IMHO. Daimler really didn’t want Chrysler having any pieces part of the newer platform
Its using the r171's clock spring and stalk modded to it since thats where the steering wheel heat switch is at. The r170's didnt have a heated steering wheel at all.
I'm going to tackle this when spring rolls around. Swapping the wheel is actually simple I believe since its confirmed to bolt on and all. But I want to do it tastefully so I want a wheel that looks nice and I want it all "undo-able" in case I want to put it back factory.
I love modding stuff but only if it looks like it came factory when I'm done.
Believe it or not my current must do is a drink holder of all things. It took 45 minutes to find the parts list I needed to attempt the steering wheel.
Ive been at it for 2 weeks searching for an acceptable drink holder solution and still nothing I like. I cant believe they didn't just add normal drink holders as large as that console is. My stepdad added the ones on the wall between the seats like several people have done and it works. The problem is Im short with a damaged left shoulder rotator cuff and I cant reach the drink holder he added while driving
I want something that I can attach to the right of the console similar to the ones that have the tab that goes between the seat and the console I have seen for sale. But I want it mounted to something and not just relying on being pinched like that. I found one for a porsche that is close to what I want mounting wise since no hole drilling is required but still looking.

Its grey so hopefully it will come close to matching the interior.
Bought the cupholder, the double din dash kit from aoz and a pioneer nex-5100 radio to go in it. Painful But it should adjust the few things that are bothering me about the car.
This will keep my drinks in place, allow me to add a backup and forward facing camera, have navigation and best of all this particular radio which I have in other vehicles is the only one I have ever found aftermarket radio wise to have perfect hands free phone performance.
I got units ranging up to 5k in price but none can touch that 5100 for bluetooth phone function aka no one being able to tell Im not holding the phone. Amazing how many car stereo makers dont seem to value that.
The drink holders I described above arrived and I tried it out tonight. Fit PERFECT and since its textured and not slick plastic it will not move once inserted. I wont have to make anything to make it stay put. Love em.
The grey color matched the interior nicely too
Well it matches at night will have to see what it looks like with daylight tomorrow but I believe it matches.
Waiting on the double din kit and the stereo now. Radio gets here friday but the double din kit hasnt shipped yet.
