Default Bringing the Crossfire into the 2020s

Something I’ve been working on. Custom aluminum mount, for 9 inch 5G android radio with backup camera, nav, Apple CarPlay , etc etc etc

. Factory radio is gone. Double din kit below with something different. More to come. Just a quick shot of the head unit in its final mount. FYI the top of the screen is actually lower than the bottom of the windshield. The photo was taken at chest level. So it does not obtrude on forward vision. More to come soon.

Very sleek, where can the 9" Display be purchased?

Plus the width of that Screen, almost matches the width also of the centre console (or perhaps the same head on). Is the mount completely rigid, so the Display doesn't flap around driving over bumps or corners etc.
Plus how does it interface with the cars audio / video?

Joying 8.8 on amazon.

Mount custom made and rock solid, no flopping c’mon now 😋

There are alterations to the inside of the dash for the mount but no obstructions, AC vents work as usual with zero obstruction as the mount isn’t in the vent.

it interfaces directly with our harness, no adapter needed. You just need a radio antenna adapter and a single wire to connect to the Ant-cont cable for continuous power.

All sounds great ! I see you have added additional photographs to the original Post. Any pictures from the back?
There appears to be 2 parts to this Stereo, where the main body (minus screen) can be positioned elsewhere (hidden out of view), with just a ribbon cable up to the display?

Will you be stocking just the custom mount, for that specific Android stereo, or as a kit, including the additional wiring / cables necessary for this complete install.
Look forward to progress updates.

This is great. Do you have pictures of what the entire mount looks like?

Thanks
Tom

Sorry for the lack of replies, I have the double DIN kit almost done. Sent it off to California for scanning and final clean up.

With an attitude like that, when it is done I hope he doesn't sell to you (OR charges you double).

Garmin Drive 66
Garmin wireless backup camera BC40
3M double sided tape
24 gauge aluminum flashing
NO CELL TOWER REQUIRED:

routes & Maps

Backup camera

24 gauge aluminum flashing, 3M tape and and touch of Velcro to protect the dash. Works for me.
The lower tab slides into the gape between the center vents and the dash. Car remains original with no changes or damage. Just slip it out and put it in the glove box if you want to hide it when parked.

.
I read 6 outstanding threads on people doing double din kits.
I have seen one apparently go to market and then, during the pandemic, go away.
Others have posted some very convincing 3D models that have simply dropped off the face of the planet. Maybe I will end up hacking one together and then using that as a prototype for a 3D model if I ever get that urge. But if I ever have to do any 3d modeling to make a replacement part. I wont hold on to the files but have them on github or some other open repository so people can actually freely use modify and improve what ever i do. So yeah, my attitude is the community is too small to be petty. So yeah I hope people have options again. i also hope that people opensource there work as it is the only way to ensure people wont just disappear and we loose a valuable resource.
