Big Brake upgrade (Front and Rear_
For SaleBrakes
Description:
CLK63 Balck Series/SLK55 P30 brakes
I just pulled this whole set-up off of a 2006 SLK55 (P30) that had been sitting for a few years after a front end crash. There was no damage to the wheels, Suspension, brakes, etc ... the damage was all bumper, hood, and 4 airbags. Apparently right before it was crashed (less than a few hundred miles before ?) , it had a brake job done which included NEW front rotors, and new front and rear brake pads. The 360mm front rotors (look up part number 2094210112 to see what they cost) measure 32mm thick new ... and these still measure 32mm . The Rear rotors (which were NOT replaced at the last brake job) are 26mm thick when new and I measure about 25.3mm (24mm is the min on these). SO, on the rears you can run them as is, throw them on the brake lathe (should easily clean up before getting down to 25mm), or replace them (being a 1-piece non-floating rotor, these are far less expensive than the fronts) ... here is the part number 1714230212). The set includes the wear sensor and the factory brake hoses (you may want to replace the brake hoses with braided SS lines).
My understanding is that this set up will fit with SRT6 wheels (using 10mm spacers up front ) . More info about fitment can be found in this post/thread. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post939591
For everything, 4 calipers (with almost-new pads), wear-free front rotors, half used up rear rotors, wear sensor, , I am asking $2500 OBO (plus shipping). Considering the front rotors are virtually wear free and go for $1500-2000 a pair if bought from Mercedes (they can be found for as little as $1100/pair if bought elsewhere), this seems like good deal and a relatively inexpensive path to get the clk63 Black series brakes on a Crossfire, R170 (or any CLK, w210, R129 and a few other models).
I think the most surprising discovery for me is that these are effectively the same size as my 2003 SL55 brakes, but weigh 1/3 less ! And they are significantly bigger than the srt6/SLK32 brakes and still weigh a good bit less than those!
I included a few pics comparing the weight of the SLK55 front brakes that I am selling to some SRT6/SLK32 front brakes (SLK55 calipers are about 5 lbs. less each and the rotors are about 2 lbs. less each). The rear SLK55 and SRT6 brakes are much closer in weight, but the SLK55 rear brakes are larger and much more effective.
