Why do you need a new shifter?

This is a transmission part - #5114036AA. My car does not realize that it is in park and, therefore, won’t start.

Have you tried using the multi-tool or an allen key to try and get it to shift? I have a manual transmission, but I've read that there is a slot on the driver's side of the shifter that you can put the multi-tool into and the car will shift.
It may also be your Transmission Control Unit or the conductor plate that is causing it not to shift.
Check your owner's manual to find the shift interlock release. If you don't have one you can download one here: LINK to documents

He said it won't start however I question it is the shifter. I would buy a used one from Ebay.
