Default Midwest & Canadian X-Fire Drivers Unite!

With the recent influx of X-Fires into the Midwest region & Canada due to the DCMC employee deals, there is now enough critical mass to start some meets, events, drives etc...

Suggestions are welcome and some initial thoughts are Waterford Hills, Dream Cruise, Wine country tasting tours, MeadowBrook Concours, etc...

Feedback please...Give me your ideas.

Ahhh seems like someone already beat me to the meet idea. I think for our first meeting we should just do a basic cruise and gathering. We could all meet at the CTC museum then cruise somewhere to eat lunch. I think it would be a good idea to go to waterford hills but i know they require roll cage/ bars for convertibles and I don't know if the XF roll bars count. Anyways I think a simple cruise and gathering should be the first thing we attempt.

What we talked about here in Canada, was to meet up in the morning, cruise all together all day, including lunch and back home at night. In addition we can all go to the casino (Windsor) at night to finish the day.

So we can all meet up at the CTC (preferable the Walter P. parking lot) and cruise around Michigan for the day.

I still haven't talk to anyone yet about this US cruise, but I'm confident will get 8-10 X Fire for sure if not more...

So please let me know.

All right...some interest in getting together.

How's this sound? There's a car show in Ypsilanti (near Ann Arbor) in early June called the Orphan Car Show. It's at an outdoor park, been on PBS AutoWeek and has a great turnout.

How about meeting at the DCMC museum (or some other central location) in the a.m., drive to/tour the show, lunch in A2 and then off we go?

Canadian colleagues - My mistake for not thinking about you - Apologies!
Ohio X-Fire folks are also welcome.

Stay tuned - More details to follow & suggestions are welcome.

ZHCS27 sounds like you can gather all your friends and cruise on up to the Walter P. parking lot. The rest of us could meet your group at the parking lot then all cruise as a group to the car show in ypslianti that harbor is talking about.

If this car show is in early june we need to start getting details and plans very soon. First how about getting a tentative list of people who can attend and what car they are bring (just to see what type of XF will be coming).

EDIT also we might want to think about brining those hand held walkie talkies. It might make things easier than trying to get and call cell phones the whole time.

OK, here's the deal:

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is sponsoring the 10th annual Ypsilanti Orphan Car Show from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday June 4th in the city's downtown Riverside Park.

Admission is $5, children under 12 free. Proceeds from the show benefit the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum.

Who's in?

Alright Harbor I added you to the list, we just need to start getting more people to respond.

I received mine last friday and have only been able to put the top down three times because of this crappy weather we have been having. At least it was an amazing day tuesday for a little bit so hopefully you where able to drop the top then.

Sound very interesting, I won't know until Tuesday how many Canadian will join other than myself, we are on holiday (Victoria Day) Today and Monday.
I will send a e-mail to all X-Fire owners on Tuesday and get back to you .

But please let me know the meeting time and an idea of the day agenda/plan something like: Museum meeting at 10, Drive to Ypsilanti Orphan Car 10-10:30, Ypsilanti Orphan Car 10:30-1 Lunch on site, afternoon drive in Michigan? etc... so i can let them know in the e-mail.

This will be great!

Thanks

Alright ZHCS27 I added your name to the list.

Harbor do you want to plan out meeting times and a tentative plan for the day since you seem to have a better understand about this car show.
As far as my guess at a plan would be

Meet at museum at 10:00
cruise to Ypsilanti at 10:30
Lunch at 12:00
Car show 1:00
Leave show at 4:30 for drive back to museum.

That is just my guess at what the plans could possible be. Feel free to change them or come up with new ones all together.

Sounds great fuzz40, i will post a Canadian version of the schedule (where to meet before crossing the border, road to use to get to the WPC, etc..) if other Canadian wants to join and i will send you a list of participants next week from our side of the Detroit River once i know who's coming from my contacts.

P.S.: Who is a DCX employees in this post?

Sounds good, just send the list when you know who is going and if possible find out what car they are bringing. Also that is a good idea you are handling the canadian side of the planning. I wouldn't know what time you should meet and where to make it to the museum on time.

EDIT: I am not a DCX employee, just the son of one.

Fuzz 40 - Yep, no problem. Your agenda is pretty much what I was thinking.

I'll get some more info on the car show while we see how many X-Fire owners respond. Someone familiar with all of the construction on the west side of town can help plan the route.

I'll be in NY over the week-end, so will hook up with you all next week.

If I have time this weekend I will try to figure out a route to get to the car show. It might be difficult with all the construction like you are talking about but I will see what I can do.
