Autocross
Does anyone autocross their xfire? I belong to the Windy City BMW Club so I can autocross my Xfire. I love my car, but I really love my car when driven to his full potential. Talk about an adrenaline rush. Also very addicting. Anyone else?

Sounds like fun, I will check it out. I just started. My 2 nephews and my sister got me started when I got the crossfire, they have a couple of Minis and an M3, thats why the BMW club. I take it since you raced a buick (I have a 2000 LeSabre, Hee Hee) They class all makes of cars. With BMW club you are classed with all non BMW. I compete against vipers, porches, mazdas, corvettes and anything else non BMW (Buicks). Hard to ever get out of being a novice. Mostly they autocross at Maywood parkling lot but
I have been to Tire Rack and signed up for a drivers school at Putnum in Southern Indiana at the end of August. Maybe I'll see you at your club. And thanks for the info.

Like you presumed, we do class every car according to make, model, year, displacement, weight, drivetrain, any modifications, and tire compounds. We get about 170 cars that come out to the events at the racetrack.
As for the whole novice thing, the good thing about the SCCA is if you need help, any of the veteran members are willing to jump in the car with you and give you some pointers after you make a run. they also have a 2 day class you can take, which offers alot of one-on-one time, but that's in April I think.
As for TireRack, we are actually sponsored by them (if not us doing more sponsoring for them, there's alot of cars with giant window decals that say "tirerack.com" on them, not to mention their name on everything, or so it seems). Feel free to come check us out. We even have another limited coupe that comes out most of the time. Next event at Route 66 is August 31st.
