Default Winter driving

My '05 6 speed roadster has never seen snow and seldom rain. I may have to bring it out next week. Any tips or thoughts from midwesterners regarding winter driving.

I've found that 50-100 pounds of sand or salt in the trunk helps alot. Keep it relatively slower on the pedal, and hopefully you have at least an all season tire on it. The Cross actually handles pretty good. But the weight in the back over the axle made a big difference to me. It's my daily driver and I haven't found it to be that bad. Mark, Minneapolis

Definitely add weight to the trunk, as was posted above, it makes a huge difference.

If you have all season tires you should be ok....if not, you could be in some trouble if you see more than a couple inches of snow.

Above all else...remember, momentum is your friend. Try to time the lights so you can keep moving.

If you do find yourself in some deeper snow......turn off the ESP when you are starting out.....it'll just fight you and put you in a ditch. Once you are moving....turn it back on.

All of the above plus...If you don't have to take it in snow...DON'T

Skid recovery is very good. Rear wheels tend to slide to right...I've driven nearly a mile with my front wheels turned left. Start in second gear and don't make sudden throttle position changes. Oh braking,,,,,give yourself about 3 times the distance...225's & 255's even all seasonsons are sleds

Thanks to you all. I'm off to Home Depot for some bags of sand.
