Default POP-UP Cupholder

Hey there! Ive got an issue thats been bugging me for a while and I cant seem to fix it. The popup cupholder in the center console wont seem to stay down when I press it. Is there any way I can fix it without taking it to the shop? Really need help. Thanks.

use the "search function", you should be able to find something on it.
or a piece of silver duct tape.

I guessed you were new here when you asked that question, I must be psychic.
Do a search, there have been many answers to this problem.

This was a problem for me as well, and I just fixed it. I'm sure you've noticed that if you search for 'cupholder' or 'cupholder repair' or other related items, you get a bunch of threads that take hours to search through. If you do searches within certain forums (like TSB and Repair), you either get a whole lot of threads, or you get nothing helpful at all. Many of the threads are like this one; someone asks for help, and all they get is replies to do a search. One thing the searches will yield for you: whether or not you want to put a stupid bin in place of the stupid cupholder. Which doesn't answer your question. Thanks again guys for helping a new person by simply telling him to search.

Well, I did many searches (this thread was among those within the search results...and useless...what a shock), and this was one of the more helpful threads: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...up-holder.html
Scroll through it, and it discusses how to remove the console so that you can access the cupholder. It also discusses the TSB so you can take it in and have it repaired by the stealership if you so desire. I didn't, so I did it myself.

In the thread, one person discusses how he accidentally knocked it out with his elbow. This is not a recommended action, but I tried a similar one: I carefully pried the cupholder out with a flat head screw driver. I then removed the spring that sits on the rear corner of the cupholder, and carefully put the cupholder back in with the screwdriver. If you do this, it takes very little force to pry the cupholder. Fixed in under 5 minutes....after searching and reading for about 4 hours.
