Wisconsin? Illinois?

They started tech inspections in part to weed out the fender flapping fascia stuff but yes they do let modded cars run. You mostly see things that would be competent on a road course. Don't be surprised to find some Subaru's. None of the straight line NOS screamers will show however.
what about a car with air ride suspension? also do you know what is a good time to get there? sorry for asking so many questions, but this is my first time trying something like this out, let alone going to one and i want to make sure i'm somewhat prepared.
I'm really not sure about air ride. They really want to limit cars to just those that would be happy on a track. While this is a "tour", the tour really gets smokin after a few laps and waddling hogs will soon find themselves feeling like portable speed bumps. I have never heard of a car DQ'd due to properly installed road course type performance mods. There are really no rules. I know they look poorly on people with bombs installed in their trunks. The inspectors are knowledgeable car guys. They mostly want to make sure that each car will not be a menace to themselves or others.
Get there around 10. Go in the main gate. Ask the guy where to sign up for "on track touring". He will direct you to the club house. Go sign in. They will direct you to the tech inspection if there is one. They will also tell you where and when to get your car lined up for the tour.
If they do a drivers meeting, go to it. The rules are simple and most abide by them. For the first couple of laps try to find a guy about your size that looks like he knows what he is doing. Follow him to get an idea of what line to take through the corners. Don't worry about your own speed. Start at a speed you are comfortable with and just let it build as you get more familiar with the track and how your car responds. Lock the wing up, turn the computer off and have some fun.

There was a red Roadster parked at the club house but I never got hooked up with the owner.
Unfortunately no, my buddy that I was supposed to go with backed out, he said gas was to high. a 4 banger, on unleaded? too much? vs a 6 that runs premium only. And all my other friends that are into cars either had school or work. So I didn't even have someone to ride up with. So hopefully next year. Any pics? A lot of nice cars there? And just curious how many times did you fill up? I figured if i left on a full tank, I would only need to fill up after the track. No need to fill the tank before you go on the track. Thanks.
The track is only a 2 hour run for me so gas is no biggie. I did fill up in Wisconsin on the return run since gas is a little cheaper there. I always go with a bud and it does make it more fun. For pics. go to Partypics.com and enter Code ELKHART then select the pictures from Saturday touring (it is at the bottom of the list). I am in the following pictures: Roll 1 frames 55, 270, 442-444, 619-621, 829-831, Roll 2 frame 116, 117, 355 713. Frame 714 shows the Miata about a half second away from doing some dirt work. The cars look packed in the first frames but that is during the slow pace laps. Things do spread out over time as the speed picks up some. It was Bugatti weekend so there were a fair number of them. Kind of cool to see those great old museum pieces taking a few laps.
Weather is supposed to be nice this sat. would anyone in the area be interested in getting together for a lil cruise? I know its kind of last minute. but if we can get 4 people or so (or more) it would be interesting considering there are only a small handful of crossfires in town (and there is a chrysler plant here in town) i guess if your interested just post it, and we'll see who we can get.
how did you get dents? some one hit my car with either their door or a cart, left some nice dents, and chipped the paint. No respect, what a shame. I'm not even going to pay to get them fixed, they aren't to bad, but to me they are a eye sore. But i plan to get rid of it at end of lease. Maybe i'll find a gently used xfire srt-6, or in two years maybe, i'll find a used cobra (the new 06?/07? style coming out).
I am in Racine and just purchased my saphire blue '04 in Feb 2007. I love the car. I would like to meet with other xfire owners in the area. Looking to modify this is a great forum for this car.

Do you want to join us at the Woodward Dream Cruise - August 18th, 2007 - Motown? So far Raulito11 and I are caravanning there. We would like to see more Chicago Land and Midwest members come along.
Hope to get to meet you.

When are you guys leaving for Woodward? I've always been interested in doing that, though the weekend before my H.S. buddy's and I are going to the Mopar Nats in Columbus.
BTW - One of them lives off Crystal Lake Ave., and his neighbor has a red '04 like mine.

Are you guys going Sat., the 18th? For how long? Accommodations? What do you think about starting a thread/poll in regards to this?
Jim.

I think there is a thread on this, but haven't had a great deal of participation from the Chicago land members. But, you can start another one. If you follow the thread from RPM on the Woodward cruise, you'll find the accommodation information. It's at a Marriott Court Yard.
