Re: new to this
Hello Tony, Welcome to the forum. I see you have multiple posts going in multiple catagories. PLEASE start with this so we can know a bit about you and your car and so we don't have to ask basic questions to be able to assist you.

RichinFlorida, that can be a good thing. Use that to have the seller knock off at least $2000.
( Tell 'em that is what it will cost to get it fixed. )
There are not too many reasons the tops fail to work, here are the most common :
1. switch in cargo divider ( drivers side where you hook the divider bar in at the top )
2. trunk latched switch ( in the latch assembly )
3. front header switch ( inside the header by the windshield, actuated by the 'D' handle. if the windows go down, this one is OK )
4. the "front raised" switch ( in the top assembly right by the passenger's right ear )
5. fuses
6. low hydraulic fluid ( here, be careful. If it's low, then check all 7 cylinders and all hoses for leaks - $$$$$$ if they need rebuilding )
7. bad hydraulic unit ( $$$$$$$ )
8. the top switch itself ( seldom the cause )
Another choice is to not fix it, buy the car cheap and use pizzaguy's video instructions on manual top operation.
