Default New Purchase - Not Yet In The Garage

Hello Forum Members,

My name is Kern Fischer and I live in S.W. Missouri, near Branson. I recently committed to purchasing a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 Roadster in Silver Blue with a black top and charcoal interior. I prefer the style of the coupes but felt the Roadster had more upside potential on price retention or appreciation. I also like convertibles. The car is staying with the selling owner through the winter and I will be picking it up in the spring. It will be added to my collection of enthusiast cars, which includes a 1989 Ford T-Bird SC, a 1991 Jaguar XJ-S Convertible, a 2008 Infiniti G37S coupe, and a 2013 Fiat 500 ABARTH. I have three other cars still on my wish list - a 1962-63 Ford T-Bird Sports Roadster, a 1966 Corvair Corsa coupe, and an Aston Martin DB9 Volante.

I am an automotive engineer by education (GMI, now Kettering University) and worked at Ford, GM, and supplier companies early in my career. I learned that working within the industry was frustratiing for an enthusiast, so eventually started my own company offering enthusiast oriented accessories as a wholesale distributor in the upper Midwest. The company was limited in size because the products were selected with care and attention to quality and the target market. The company ran for about 30 years and gradually faded due to differing vehicle design and increased content. This was OK as my career was also winding down.

From a young age I was interested in cars and driving. During my career I participated in a wide variety of motorsports activities, primarily relating to sports cars, including instructing at performance driving schools on road racing tracks. In the early 1990s I formed the idea of a new form of road racing that would be less costly and more fair than any other current offering. Several years of development and significant expense resulted in a viable event format. Unfortunately, the 2008-2010 recession slowed the development momentum and the concept is currently on hold.

Driving interesting cars is a continuing passion.

Drive FAST & SAFE.

Welcome, Kern. Enjoyed reading your intro and I like your taste in cars, especially the bullet 'bird. Bet you can't wait for spring to pick up your new CF.

Welcome Kern, I too enjoyed your introduction post detailing your career paths and enthusiast passions. Welcome to the forum.

I share your passion for some of the cars in your collection and on your wish list. We owned a silver1992 Jaguar XJ-S roadster. I've always loved the "bullet birds" and the M code sports roadster is certainly the king (I've looked but never pulled the trigger on one of those - unusual for me because I'm known to be trigger happy).

ENJOY YOUR SSB SRT6 ROADSTER (when you get it in the spring). Hope to see you / meet you in Eureka Springs at Crossfire Fun in the Ozarks (Round 5).
