Default Not dead yet according to Autoweek

As Autoweek teels the story, factory orders for 2008 models will resume now that the "order imbalance" has cleared.

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...-1/mmstoryfull

Now we just have to hope that Daimler finds a bunch of AMG 3.2 engines sitting in a warehouse that they're looking to divest themselves of. Call it the 2009 SRT-6 v2.0.

That article is from July.
People on the forum have 2008s.
The article doesn't mention the SRT at all.

Hey, that's an Old Article (article was last updated on: 07/02/07, 08:49 et), that was to get rid of the last 1,800+ to be produced!

They were hold backs of sorts, Not new production, with unlimited #'s!

That's just Selling News, at it's Best! (Of course in July last year, it wasn't Dead, but it was terminal & its days were very numbered.

They are still cleaning up inventory. When they are gone, they are gone. They lost toooooo much money to start up that line again. And if they decide to make Crossfires in the US, it will no way be the same.

A good way to sell the crossfire would have been to offer a 350hp, pushrod V8, strippo model with a/c optional and a 6-speed. Total price: $25,000. Chrysler needs to bow down to the younger customers and acknowledge that they can't afford an SRT8. Basically, high-performance, low price, all the essentials with plenty of room to build upon with a strong aftermarket backing.

Then, I'd like to see them cram a 6.1 hemi between those fenders for an SRT model. ESP optional. Can you say AMG killer?

Of course, that will never happen, considering CAFE, political and business bullshit, and the "demand to satisfy investors," which is a load of crock.

With a 6.1 hemi, tell me that won't run low 12's to high 11's all day long. See if your investors aren't smiling then, DC.

You are describing a better looking SRT-4! I still don't understand why Chrysler threw in the towel when it came to competing with the Civic coupe, a sexy fwd coupe with the SRT-4 powertrain sold for around $22,000 would sell very well.

my dad actually taught me how to drive stick on his old SRT4 LOL. Turbo inline 4, no slouch. One of our friends has one that traps as much as his sisters new ZO6.

Yes, it is amazing how the youth market doesn't get the attention that it used to receive from American brands. I like your idea of putting some horsepower into a strippo model. Tweak the styling a bit, add a beep beep horn and you'd have a modern Road Runner. If you use the 285hp SRT-4 powertrain I think you'd get the attention of the tuning crowd too. Sell it for $23,000 with Plymouth branding. The Rapid Transit System returns!

Here's the recipe:

Car (let's just say xf for now)
350hp pushrod v8, with lots of potential (like the three valve mustangs love bolt-ons type of thing) none of that SOHC, DOHC crap.
6-speed
Front engine rear wheel drive
Standard options: air bags and a pistol grip.
Either a two-seater or 2+2.
Bucket seats!

Oh, and one small thing: NO TRACTION CONTROL. or at least the ability to turn that thing 100% off.

Is this asking too much for $23,000? What kind of a killing would DC make if this was made a reality?
