I have been retired for 3 years I have owned a high performance machine shop which built everything from four cylinder Pontiac 2L to Mountain Pro Stock engines. I sold the business complete and walked away. My son and I still race on the Nostalgia circuit with a 1970 GTO. Out of boredom I thought I needed another project my niece had a 2005 Crossfire Limited convertible. Car set in her garage not running for almost a year stuck in park. I bought the car. I bought the car thinking would be a nice project since I can't do much with covid-19. When I picked the car up it did not run although she said it ran when she had the problem with it stuck in park. Brought it home charged battery 2 years old 12.7 volts would not start. I did the resolder that are found on your forum for the module still no start I've read a lot of threads but this one is got me stumped I could use some help with somebody that has fix this problem or knows of this problem. A few more things the key works locks and trunk.the spoiler is deployed and I have no brake lights. The battery has a drain on it, 1.4 volts over 24 hr.

The battery sounds weak however first test would be to disconnect the negative terminal for 5 minutes and then reconnect and try to start. If it cranks three times and then nothing it would be the screem. If that is not the sequence I would try replacing the RCM The actual contacts go bad. The next two possibilities are the Crank Position sensor or the Cam Position sensor.Keep the rebuilt RCM for a spare If it is the screem module send it to SOS Diagnostics for repair. Good luck, let us know how you do. These cars do not like weak voltage. And never jump start one unless it is an emergency. The battery drain is usually a bad alarm siren. They have built in batteries that leak acid and short out the circuit board. Type alarm siren into the search feature for a how to unplug or replace.

Hi MB and welcome to the forum.
I experienced the stuck in park issue and fixed it fairly simply. Can you tell us for instance when you say, "Does not start" are you stating that the motor cranks over but does not fire or the starter does not engage or turn the motor? Specificity will help here. The advice of the cam and or crank position sensor was good if the motor is actually spinning but not firing. You stated that you performed a "resolder" to the RCM and that didn't help. There may be other issues with the RCM that TighEd here on the forum is quite accomplished in repairing and or refurbishing.
~ When I began my search to fix my "stuck in park" issue, I used the forum search and typed ..stuck in park..Several threads came up. You..tube dot com search can be used the same way but the type of car needs to be added to their search. Does your dash indicate a "P" or a black square block? Have you tried to replace the brake switch that runs about 20.00 bucks? Has anyone spilled liquid down the shifter? Look for coffee residue in the carpet. There is at least one video on how to disassemble the console and remove the trim pieces without breaking them in order to gain access from above to change out the shift module. Remove the shift **** first by pulling BTW after releasing the threaded trim ring. The shift module changeout can be done from inside of the car,...final trim covers up bailun wire in case you break a tab...hint hint.
~ Your battery drain issue is going to be fun, and there are several detailed threads here on how to go about identifying the troublesome draining circuit...Good luck on all of it, and I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the help. The engine does not crank over. No clicking at starter. As far as the stuck in park there is a blank square were p should be. Bought new brake switch plunger .200 thousand to long. Test original switch test good. Even checked in position under dash to see if brake pedal worked the switch. Almost got stuck under there. The car is any thing but perfect but will take apart console.this week.. have a race out of state I am getting ready for so my day is busy. I appreciate the help THANKS.

Next I would try the crank position sensor, fairly easy swap. Use the search feature on this site for a lot of your needs.

A bad traction control rely on the RCM can cause the shifter to remain stuck in park; Repair RCM before digging into console and shifting problem.
