Default New Crossfire Owner

Hello All,

Happy to have found this forum. I just purchased an '07 Cross base coupe with 148,000 for a couple thousand bucks. The car is is decent overall shape aside from some cosmetic blems inside and out. I suspect it's probably has just about all the typical issues for this car at the mileage, from a few bad fuses and switches..I already noticed the headlights don't work on dim..probably the switch ( had a Mercedes C220 with the exact same issue), the after market radio suddenly stopped working, likely a fuse or wiring chopjob gone bad, the hood support is blown and of course a leaky valve cover. Now, for my first question to you all, I do have a strong smell of raw gasoline which I suspect is probably a vent tube that's rotted. I'm sure many of you have experienced this with the car and was looking for tips or input on a simple ( or likely very complicated repair). Just so my bases are covered..I'm a fairly experienced mechanic and am very familiar with most American and German cars. I've owned a late '80s Porsche 944 ( of which I rebuilt the entire top end of the engine amongst many other issues) , Mercedes C220 as mentioned and a late 2000's BMW 328i. Hope to get some great input here and I'm happy to be a part of the group.

check inside the plastic cover found underneath in front of the passenger rear wheel ( 3 10mm plastic nuts )
filter, pump and a lot of ethanol sensitive hoses.
only other rubber host is the one from the firewall to the engine.

Thanks for the tip...exactly where I found the leak. Although it was just a basic inspection and I haven't removed the plastic guard. I can't really tell exactly what is leaking, I know it's one or more of the hoses to/from the filter and/or the fuel pump. Are all those hoses available and replaceable?

go to an auto parts place and get some ethanol compliant hose to replace. Also get a boat load of tiny screw clamps, the OEM clamps are a ***** to reuse.

Don't I know it. On further inspection it looks like the fuel pump casing itself is leaking but I won't know for sure till I get it all apart.
